Well, now that it's been out for a day time to start a thread,

Who here actually liked it, raise their hand?

I didn't, I found it turned into more of a shooter game than an horror game. Not that it wasn't a shooter before, it's just in 1 they had more "scares" (read shit jump scares) than the actual shooting (at least from what I remember) and after playing about a half hour of the game I found it to just be full of...shooting. I found it to be bland at best, but I hope it gets..."scarier" later in the game.

So you're saying there's too much action and not enough dead space?

Eh, I've never been a big fan of the franchise. The games looked kind of "meh" - substituting horror for "OOGITY BOOGITY!" jump scares and such. I'm sure they're decent, but when there's so many great games out there, I'd prefer to spend my money elsewhere.

I thought it was better than the second. I liked the first the most but I think it was because It was the first game so its hard to reproduce that original feeling.

I was fearful thinking the game would turn into some CoD-actiony mess like RE5 with the addition of coop and everything but I was shocked that they kept that original feeling of DS at least in the SP. I doubt I'd ever play the game in coop even though there are a couple coop exclusive missions and stuff. I'd imagine its a lot better than RE5 and its not hard to see why.

The problem with this game and the others is that once you've played the first then you've played DS. You'll find quite a bit of scary moments in each game but you know what to expect. With all of that being said though theres quite a few times I do get scared. The later levels can be downright mean and there were a lot more moments that made me say "WTH" esp. during the bosses.

I'd like to see a new DS that follows DS3 but in a whole new setting.

I'll be honest, I was watching videos of the game, reminds me of a somewhat Gears of War clone to be honest with you... Also here's a good review:

I cant support the game anywas. EA helped crap all over it with 11 pieces of day 1 DLC, microtransactions in the single player, online pass, and within like 12 hours of the game being out spouting "hey we got DLC coming in a few weeks!"

the single player microtransactions is what got me the worst, dont want that to be a part of my single player (you know they will see it sells and build games around it on purpose soon)

Single player micro transactions is nothing new, it's been done before. That's a dumb reason and it's a way to hide the "i just hate EA because they're EA"

So? What's the point of that? The only thing you should be mad about EA for is them shoving social networking into games down our throats, and giving you like 50 bucks of day 1 DLC to purchase.

add on the crappy origin service and the half baked PC port, yah...its just bad what EA did to it. And its not just hate on EA, though i dont think they help much on many games (DA2 was ruined for me honestly)

Capcom also sucks the big ones when they love to sell you DLC thats already on the disc. I just hate these crappy bussiness practices that are slowy making their way into everything just to nickle and dime you.

And your blind if you dont think they will at keep pushing this crap until they find a new fine line. If DS3 micro crap works for them it will show up in just about everything and they will start to build the game around them/with them in mind.

You don't get it.

-They're not forcing you to buy that shit.
- Don't want it on PC? Don't get it on PC. Simple as that.
- Other companies do single player DLC and yet they get no hate. EA does, because well it's EA.
- People buy that stuff, so obviously they're going to put it in the game. Don't want them to? Don't buy it. Simple as that. It's the players/gamers/buyers who are at fault. They put the thought into companies that it's alright to do that.

Honestly i dont know of many other games that have single player micro transactions as blatant as this one ( i cant name any, but im sure you have a list). I get what you mean that you can ignore it, which i full intend on doing. Do you really think they will always be non intrusive? I can't believe you think they WONT get worse if this ends up selling well for them.

It might not be bad for this game, but to say it wont get worse...thats just being ignorant. Its a business first, anything to make another buck and they will try it, EA just happens to be one of the leaders in it.

Also if you want an example, looks at map pack prices. Everything before the second call of duty on this gens consoles were 10$, but they decided "hey, we could sell these for 15$ and i bet you they would all buy it still" ...gues what they were right, now every game sells map packs for 15$.

That's multiplayer transactions. And do you know why they charge $15 and can? BECAUSE OF PEOPLE WHO PAY FOR IT! If people just said "no", boom, problem solved. But no, everybody's dumb. I haven't bought a single damn map pack in my life, especially for that price. I've bought single player stuff that enhances the game, sure, L.A Noire, Mass Effect mission etc. Stuff that are justified at the price.

that was an example of people just not bothering to put their foot down when a company trys to change something or push the line and they get away with it, which is what will likely happen with this...and of course the map pack thing was lead by EA. People will buy this game (voting with their wallets) and letting them know its fine that they do all this crap, which they will continue and keep crossing the line until people stop buying what they are selling.

The reason this sticks out is because its not like buying additional stuff for the game like missions or map packs that add to the game, its basically charging for what we used to call back in the day ..."cheat codes". Its not adding more value to the game, its a skip button...that they want to charge for.

Half baked PC port? you don't even own the game so I'm going to assume you heard it somewhere and figured they must be right.

Unless you own an incredibly old computer DS3 runs smooth. I'm playing it on a nvidia 9800 GT and getting 80+fps at max settings. Theres 17 different options including presets(low, med, high) antialiasing(fxaa variations and smaa), anisotropic and even SSAO. It also lets you play with a keyboard and mouse although lets be honest that's kind of dumb.

yes my friend owns it and even the the devs themselves said it would only be a straight port because they dont want any version to be "superior".

http://www.shacknews.com/article/77584/dead-space-3s-pc-port-defended-by-its-executive-producer

"We continue to evolve our games as we develop them, but we certainly don't target PC as something that's going to be significantly different. We aren't trying to create disparity in the experience that our gamers enjoy; we want to make sure everyone's having that same experience.
"At our studio, we've always made console games," he pointed out. "The biggest thing is we want to make sure the quality of the experience is consistent across all platforms so we don't have one userbase saying it's better on their system."

Huh. I vaguely remember this thread being about Dead Space 3, not some kids irrational hate of EA.

On-Fucking-Topic, I played a bit more earlier today and it's still too action-y for me. Not sure if I even want to continue playing for the story, I know the gist of it anyways.
