i'm currently using a ds lite and an acekard 2i, when i play music on moonshell the music quality is absolute shit, is it because of i'm using a ds lite? is it because of moonshell? would a 3ds have better quality?

Sometimes, the quality can be because you may have adjusted the volume in Moonshell itself. What's it set at? You can check by pressing X or Y while playing media. If it's at 125% or greater, the quality seems to go downhill.

Also if you are thinking that software would have run better in 3ds, as far as i know, running ds homebrew in ds lite and 3ds is exactly the same so...

He might be talking about 3DS Sound vs Moonshell... Anyway, both the DSi and the 3DS have better audio hardware than the DS lite and even DS software should sound better on those systems. Just for clarifying, a DS software works almost identical in both systems, but the image and sound qualities are different on those (the same way there are gba versions with better or worst screen qualities)

They say that DSLite can play up to 32000Hz. DSi/3DS can play up to 44100Hz. i.e. DSi/3DS are much better.
That's why MoonShell 2.10child(zwai) doesn't support DSLite officially.

thanks for the info
@avenir I didn't know about eh frequecy diff. well that means it must sound better

Not only the frequency is higher, but the max volume is louder on a DSi and 3DS, it is quite noticeable if you play them side by side. But I don't think the DS lite should sound so bad for playing mp3 to the average person, if it sounds distorted it must mean bad configuration of the moonshell, crappy mp3 files or maybe some hardware problem.

Unfortunately all i have right now is a ds lite......but i think his problem is hardware as mine sound perfectly well on my earphones
