Hardware PSP Go question

Hello to all on that forum.
I want to ask for your opinion about PSP Go, if you like it over PSP 3000, what it's better for emulation (processor things, you know), use for game backups, and last if it's worth or not not to have an UMD drive.

The reason is that i'm think to buy one, but don't know what may be a good price for it and if it's a good elecction at all.

Opinions incoming:

It's great, if you're a pirate. If you want to buy games, the PSN is lacking. If you play Monster Hunter, prepare for hand cramps. The controls are really cramped but okay for most games that don't need constant camera adjustment.

Emulation is the same as 3000.

It really just matters if you like the control layout, if you like the 16GB storage space, and if you can live without UMD.

The Go has the same CPU/GPU/RAM specs as the 2000/3000 (the 1000 has half the RAM of the later models). If you're going to play ISOs and emulators, it's technically fine. It'll play ISOs of games that wouldn't normally run on it (like the Kingdom Hearts).

The Go does have 16GB of internal space, but it's not like Memory Sticks are $60 for an 8GB anymore.

The main issue people have is the size. It's smaller and a different (more cramped) form-factor, so people usually suggest you try one out (along with a 2K/3K) to see which you'd be more comfortable playing on.

The Go, however, comes with 16GB of internal storage. If you want to add more, it doesn't use Memory Stick, it uses M2... yet another of Sony's proprietary memory formats.

I asked about the cost of PSP Go itself, for example in USA. I know that it will change for a contry to another but help me to understand for an overprices.

Ahhh. A new Go in the US usually runs about $180 at the cheapest (gamestop wants $200).

There's still a lot of people that aren't aware the Go can be hacked (or simply dislike the small form-factor), so you can sometimes find used one cheaper ($145 or so is what I'm seeing), but ever since news of it being hacked spread, people started buying them up as a pocket emulation device (since they're smaller than the other models and come with 16GB).

Well, so that's the standard price. Here i can see it by 180 € new and none in the second hand market.

I was able to get one over the summer for about $120 in very good condition albeit a little dirty. But I checked eBay on a daily basis scanning for a Buy It Now listing that was a little underpriced, and listed with cheap or free shipping just to get a quick sale. It took me about a week of browsing before I found one that had a decent description from a seller with other positive feedback as a seller already.

If it will be hard to find it New for the high price, it may be worth the effort in stalking eBay like I did for a lower price (of course looking for auctions with pictures of the actual item being sold) or calling around local game shops (maybe pawn shops too).

$95-$110 is a great price.

I grabbed the last one at my local gamestop for $70 working perfectly. With a 1 year warranty nonetheless! I was ecstatic

Here were i live the second hand market is very good but that model is very likely so no one stay for a long time in a second hand shop.
I will try to search for one on ebay, that's for what i ask usa price

Having both owned all the major psp models at various times (heck I even picked up a 1000 system on launch day), I find the form factor of the Slim and Go both have their pluses and minuses.

If I'm using the d-pad for games, I definitely prefer using the Slim over the Go. Generally speaking, the Slim is more comfortable to hold and feels a lot more natural. However, if I'm using the analog nub on the Slim my thumb/hand starts to cramp after a relatively short amount of time. I find that my thumb is in an awkward position on the Slim when using the analog stick. Kind of an odd angle.

As for the PSP Go, getting a comfortable grip is harder to obtain, but I find that my thumb/hands cramp less on the Go when using the analog.

Having the extra screen real estate on the 3000 is nice, but the PSP Go screen is noticeably sharper, albeit smaller.

Going without UMD drive isn't a problem if you have access to backups as others have said. If you don't, get the 3000 and you can rip any game you want pretty much.

I'd probably recommend most people to get a 3000 Slim as it's cheaper than a PSP Go and probably better for bigger hands. If you got medium size hands like myself it's kind of a toss up.
