I was thinking about what could be the proper hardware specs of the 3ds,so I started to search for them until I came across a Wiki, page called 3dsbrew.org,heres the link to there specs of the hardware http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Hardware,I was tempted to find out what were to 2x Co-processors,so heres my calculations on what could be the most relevant hardware specs of the 3ds:-

Nintendo 1048 0H (Custom): CPU, GPU, VRAM & DSP all on one chip. This is the SoC

ARM11 MPCore 2x 268MHz & 2x VFP Co-Processor Clocked One at 67.028 MHz ARM9,while the other one I think is a 33.514 MHz ARM7(The 2x Co-processors I think are from the DS to Insure proper backwards compatibility). These are the 2 processors present in the 3ds if I am correct, this would give 3ds the total processing power of 636.5 MHz

DMP PICA 268MHz with embedded 6mb vram .This is the Gpu present in the 3ds,while many say that it is clocked at 300 MHz,or 400MHz I am still not sure what it is clocked at exactly.

2x64MB Fujitsu Ram.This a FCRAM type of Ram it is very fast in fact faster than the Ram present in the PS vita, not more powerful but faster.

these are only 3 components of the 3ds,CPU,GPU and Ram,you can find other hardware related stuff of the 3ds on the site I posted above,if I did a mistake I would happily agree if you have a logical explanation on what I wrote wrong here :),These are the most relevant specs of the 3ds that I was able to find, but hey I am not saying that they are totally true, they maybe wrong as no reliable source has posted the most relevant specs, for example the CPU might clocled at 1GHz but we dont know because no one has posted very relevant specs, these are the most believeable specs that I have found.

Did you know about the 2x co processors?

I problably ignored this information before, because I didn't know what it means. But look what i found on google about VFP coprocessors:

"The VFP coprocessor, together with associated support code, provides single-precision and double-precision floating-point arithmetic, as defined by ANSI/IEEE Std. 754-1985 IEEE Standard for Binary Floating-Point Arithmetic. This document is referred to as the IEEE 754 standard." Source: http://infocenter.arm.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.arm.doc.dui0473c/CHDHAGGE.html

It means that VFP coprocessors are used for floating point operations. Many people now the DS doesn't have floating point operations, so it problaby doesn't have anything to do with the DS or backward compatibility. Are you sure these coprocessor have really anything to do with arm9? The 3dbrew page didn't mention this anywhere...

Thanks for clearing that out.

I know that the 3DS has a dual core chip, but had no idea about the clock rates and stuff.

Guess I must be in a cave all this while.
