I use the Eden.fm nds tokyo trim tool, and every single rom i have on my ds is trimmed, BUT, some people say that trimmed roms tend to give problems or even save file losing, what does trimming does exactly to roms to keep them on so short Mb? :yaynds:

I'm using the DSTT on a DS Lite btw.

I dont know if its good to have them trimmed or not, i dont see any changes.

some games (most of it are translated one) do have problems when you trim it with tokyotrimmer like somabringer, and last time love plus had problems with it.
that;s all I remember.
so far is good

but since I had 32GB sdcard trimming not really necessary for me
even with almost all reputable games inside there are still few GB spaces left.

remember to saves your games, and have clean backup roms.
if you think you got problems, just overwrite roms.

Trimming removes the space that contains garbage data of ROMS. An 128 MB rom might only use 76 MB for example, so the empty parts get trimmed off. It doesn't matter for compatibility. The only rom I have ever had trouble with was the romhack for Inazuma Eleven. All official roms should work fine trimmed. I use EZ-trim myself because it can trim an entire folder in 20 seconds. Romhacks and patched roms might not work when trimmed, but most will.

It wipes out filler data (padding at the end, to be specific).

If you're using clean ROMs on a flash cart with proper native firmware (Acekard+AKAIO, R4something+unhacked Wood, DSsomething+EOS, etc.), then after a game is supported trimming it is fine in most cases.
I'm using an DSTT along with the latest RetroGameFan Kernel

Tokyo Trimmer is more slow to me cuz i let it make a backup of the rom before trimming, also that and it detects wifi games and reports errors, or if the game cant be trimmed it warns you.

Nope, I play multiplayer and Download play with trimmed roms once in a while and never had problems with it.
