Um, some bad pun about Halloween and video games. Candy corn!

If I missed a game you really want coverage on then simply send your write up to me (via PM). If it's good enough and follows proper formatting I'll add it here with credit to you! Check the "Other Releases" section at the bottom to see what games I would want write ups for but am not all too qualified to do myself. You can also do write-ups for games I didn't even list. Sometimes things slip my eye.

From now on, I'm going to include a template for submissions. Simply fill in the template below and PM me.

Code:
[h]Game Name[/h]
[b]Platform:[/b]
[b]Developed by:[/b]
[b]Published by:[/b]
[b]Release date:[/b]
[b]Genre:[/b]
[b](your name here)'s Hype Level:[/b]
[b]GBAtemp Hype Level:[/b]

Insert box art here

[P]Write your thoughts on the game here.[/P]

Some rules and stuff.

- No flaming. If I list a game you don't like, too bad. If I don't, too bad.
- This is mainly North American releases, sorry. I'll, on occasion, do a European or Japanese release if it's big enough and not already out in America.
- If a game is already released in English and is being released again for another region, I won't bother adding it. Like say if Half Life 2: Episode 3 was out in America in April (it won't) and it came out in May in Europe, I won't list it for May. I'll also do the same if a game was released in English (aka Europe or America) and is being released in Japan.
- I get my dates from GameFaqs, Wikipedia, and IGN, so if a date is wrong don't blame me. You can, of course, point it out and ask me to fix it if you have the right date.

Code of Princess

Platform: 3DS
Developed by: Agashima
Published by: Atlus
Release date: October 9th (North America)
Genre: Boobs
My Hype Level: Looks rather bad
GBAtemp Hype Level: Boobs

codeofprincess_boxarttboxart_160h.jpg

The only code here is a noticeable lack of a dress code.

Otherwise the game looked pretty crap. Kinda boring run-of-the-mill 2D beat 'em up with a Tera logic complex.

Ragnarok Odyssey

Platform: Vita
Developed by: Game Arts
Published by: XSEED
Release date: October 16th (North America)
Genre: ARPG
My Hype Level: Looks alright, just CBA to do enough research
GBAtemp Hype Level: Pretty moderate hype.

ragodyssey_vita1boxart_160h.jpg

This sure will Ragna-rock the system for sure.

Anyway I haven't bothered to look into it too much, off the description it seems to fall into that "Monster Hunter-style" groove with Monster Hunter, God Eater, Lord of Arcana, etc etc. Which is kinda boring honestly. But I've heard good things about it so I'll consider it.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories

Platform: Vita
Developed by: WayForward Technologies
Published by: Konami
Release date: October 16th (North America)
Genre: Dungeon crawler (yeah, not even sarcastic)
My Hype Level: The above doesn't inspire much confidence
GBAtemp Hype Level: Under the radar

sh_bom1boxart_160h.jpg

A Silent Hill dungeon crawler? That's nothing to be quiet about.

Anyway, despite numerous delays since the Vita's release, it looks like Silent Hill is finally hitting the console. However, it appears to be a dungeon crawler of sorts. Which sounds really lousy for Silent Hill honestly. It's also really sad that this gets released before Warrior's Lair. Step it up. And while the "WayForward" tag on it does inspire a little more confidence, I'm not exactly firing my goo gun on all cylinders.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation

Platform: Vita
Developed by: Ubisoft something or rather
Published by: Ubisoft
Release date: October 30th (North America), October 31st (Europe, Australia)
Genre: Action adventure
My Hype Level: Looks pretty good but you never know
GBAtemp Hype Level: OH GOD SO SWEET

ACLIB_PSVita_BXSHT1boxart_160h.jpg

Assassin's Creed for Vita sure seems like a killer.

The game looks pretty fucking nice, it seems to stand up to its console counterparts rather sizably. It's a real powerhouse. But so was Bloodlines and that game was less than stellar. I would really like to be enthusiastic about a full-fledged Assassin's Creed on the Vita and almost everything looks nice but Bloodlines has still left me wary.

Resident Evil 6

Platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Developed by: Capcom
Published by: Capcom
Release date: October 2nd (North America, Europe, Australia), October 4th (Japan)
Genre: Survival horror action TPS
My Hype Level: I think it looks pretty fucking rad
GBAtemp's Hype Level: Some yays, more nays

residentevil6360boxart_160h.jpg

This resident is here to stay.

First off, the logo is a giraffe getting head. Thanks. Second off, I kinda like the game. I played the demo with Dragon's Dogma and the camera wasn't ideal but it seemed really fun. I like how it's more actiony and how it has a lot of mechanics. I know people are bitching that it's "just CoD" or some lame crap but it feels new and ambitious. Plus I don't see how people can say Resident Evil 5 was fantastic but immediately throw this one by the curb. Seriously people?

Dishonored

Platform: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC
Developed by: Arkane Studios
Published by: Bethesda Studios
Release date: October 9th (North America), October 11th (Japan, Australia), October 12th (Europe)
Genre: FPRPG?
My Hype Level: Seems less than exciting
GBAtemp's Hype Level: Rather quiet

Dishonored_US_ESRB_X360boxart_160h.jpg

Great dishonor.

You ever have a friend who shows you something he's accomplished and gets really snoody about it? But in the end what he did wasn't that great? That's what Dishonored feels like to me. Like Bethesda is jerking off about their own game more than anyone else. They also won numerous awards in my book for some of the dumbest press statements ever. "It's an assassination game where you don't have to kill anyone!" That doesn't sound innovative or cool, it sounds stupid. It just doesn't look interesting. They just mashed a gazillion art styles together and put some kinda uninspiring spin on it and made me apathetic as all hell.

007 Legends

007-Legends_US_ESRB_PS3boxart_160h.jpg

Platform: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U (not this month), PC
Developed by: Eurocom
Published by: Activision
Release date: October 16th (North America), October 17th (Australia), October 19th (Europe)
Genre: FPS
My Hype Level: Hopefully not the Moonraker of the franchise
GBAtemp's Hype Level: Eh.

I like my games like I like my martinis: shaken, not stirred, and usually involving James Bond.

Anyway, if there's one thing you didn't know about me, it's that I fucking love James Bond. I'm a fanatic about it. I did enjoy the latest Goldeneye game, so I was glad that they were making a sorta-follow-up in 007 Legends. Admittedly it looks graphically a bit lazy, most likely the engine from Goldeneye: Reloaded (which was just a HD port of a Wii engine which was a heavily modified Dead Space Extraction engine). I really do want to get it, but I feel no one would really give enough of a shit I do to play it with me. Maybe when it's at like $20.

Assassin's Creed III

Platform: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U (not this month), PC
Developed by: Ubisoft Montreal
Published by: Ubisoft
Release date: October 30th (North America), October 31st (Europe, Australia)
Genre: Action
My Hype Level: I really like Asscreed
GBAtemp Hype Level: Fuck yeah

AC3_X360_BXSHT_1boxart_160h.jpg

Another part of the killer line-up.

I really like Asscreed. I'll say it. I've enjoyed practically every one (the first one notably less but otherwise they're fun ass games). The third one looks just as good, if not better. New engine, new gameplay mechanics, new setting, new protagonist. I really would enjoy playing this.

Code of Princess looks like fun and it got good impressions from people who played it in Japanese so I'll probably get it when it gets cheap.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation has promise but honestly, I'm not really feeling it. Visually, the game is gorgeous for a handheld and with dual sticks it should control fine. My issue is that from what I've seen, the Vita's power restricts the game to only having few NPCs. In the console Assassin's Creed games, some of the appeal stems from walking through a huge bustling city that actually feels alive. Compared to the 200+ NPCs in Assassin's Creed 2, the streets in Liberation just seem empty.

The developer (Ubisoft Sofia) that is working on the game doesn't exactly have a stellar reputation either.
  • Mac port of Rayman Raving Rabbids
  • Tech work (not design work) on TC's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars
  • Chessmaster DS
  • PS3 Port of Prince of Persia Classic
  • Xbox 360 port of CSI 3 Dimensions of Murder
All in all, that game would be a "wait and see" for me. If I owned a Vita, that is.

007 Legends visually looks quite ugly (like a Wii game) but if it's being made by the same guys who worked on Golden Eye 007, it should be good.

Assassin's Creed 3 looks really good but I need to play through Brotherhood/Revelations first.

Zero Escape really snuck up on me. I was ignoring its sweet, sweet luscious existance so I didn't kill myself from the horribly long wait.

Nothing else of interest except Ragnarok Odyssey, but I have a jap copy of it and don't REALLY need an english version...i'm not missing much except a card list, which I can decipher from the english release thanks to them all having monster pictures to go by.
Assassin's creed sorta lost my interest, but if the Vita game looks good i'll probably grab it. Haven't done any research into it.

Oh and i'm curious to see what lego LOTR is like. Lego everything except Star Wars has sucked horrid ass...I wish they'd do it properly again one day.

Apparently the beta for Medal of Honor is tied to the release of a new Linkin Park music video. Just when I thought I couldn't care any less, EA found a way. Bravo?

RE6 and AC3 are my most likely buys right now. I'd like to get into XCOM, but I'm not one for RTS's, so I'll wait and see on that one.

I plan on getting Virtue's Last Reward but I still haven't gotten all the endings in 999. I figure that I should finish that first before starting VLR.

A tidal wave that will end come 2013.

I added a submissions template if anyone is interested. There's a lot of stuff this month and much of it I couldn't cover. Also I know/care little about Zero Escape and XCOM, which do have pretty dedicated fanbases, so submissions for those are welcome (along with anything else in October).

I wouldn't hold your breath, I swore it was coming at a later date than the console versions or something.
It's coming November 25th. Later than the other versions because Capcom/Ubisoft think that releasing the PC version alongside the console ones encourage piracy.

That's great reasoning on their behalf, makes total sense.

They could at least bullshit it and say "We're making it PC-tailored!"

That was hilarious, but I assure you, sir. My jimmies remain quite unrustled.

Anyway, there's a lot of room between now and 2013 for titles to be announced. 3-5 months is a reasonable time between announcement and release.

There was also a pretty large Gamescom line-up that wasn't dated but pretty much for 2013.
