With the current Wii on its way out, I wanted to celebrate some of the great graphical moments of the Wii. If you guys want, we can toss in some notable GameCube titles but they must be at last on par or a bit better than the low end of the Wii spectrum. I'll kick things off with a lovely WiiWare game made by Shin'en...

This next game (also made by Shin'en) is a obvious "Super Mario Galaxy" Clone but a damn good one!

Lastly (and again made by Shin'en. DAMN, these guys had a kick ass graphics engine), we have an obvious F-Zero clone and it's fun...

OK, time for everyone else to chime in. If you're posting YouTube videos, PLEASE try to restrain from using videos in which Dolphin is used. The thread is about the best of Wii within its original limits. As always, let's have fun with this thread! :yaywii:

Are we talking about raw graphics or aesthetics?
Some games look awesome in movement only, like Okami, or Zack & Wiki (most cell shaded games).

Zack & Wiki

Red Steel 2

Muramasa The Demon Blade

The Conduit 2

(About the videos being 1080p/720p, obviously using Dolphin... you said "try", but the truth is the games look awful on my screen when not in 720/1080)

Best looking games? Why, Fatal Frame 4 and Fatal Frame 2 are high on my list:

The level of detail in these games only goes to show how much effort has gone into their development.

I know it's a GameCube game, but I don't think I've seen many Wii games that look better than F-Zero GX. It even has widescreen support.

And how could anyone forget Wind Waker, the best looking Zelda game of all? a decade later and it still looks like a real beauty.

I've never played any of them, but from what I've seen, they did a pretty damn good job with the Wii port of Modern Warfare 3.

Can't believe no one has mentioned The Last Story, it looks pretty damn good, too bad it sometimes suffers from lag.

ZOMG! dont get me started on Activision and their near perfect ports!

Can we say, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions?

Yes, it's true that this game does not push the Wii BUT it did accomplish something that is equally as important. It showed that you CAN port a game from 360 to Wii with minimal losses to intermediate losses but the core game will stay in tact.

Y'know, that game didn't exactly push the 360 to its limits either... ;)

I know but a lot of developers were annoying with their constant need to make a separate and very different Wii version of their multi-platform games, I.E. the Madden series and the last few Transformers games.

Don't get me wrong, but whose fault is that?

It's hard to release the exact same game on a PC, which has varied levels of power by proxy due to customization, the 360 and the PS3, both enjoying multi-core CPU's and (at the time) strong GPU's and the Wii - a console far behind the competition.

What Activision did is commendable, but sometimes by trying to please everyone, you end up with a semi-decent product. :P

EDIT: Speaking of "completely different Wii versions of games"...

The Wii version actually got better ratings than the others at the time and it's still looking good.

I need to grab and play through Force Unleashed 1 and 2. I'm hooked on Art of Balance right now :P

The 3DS version of Spider-Man: Edge of Time was basically a perfect console port, too (minus the visuals, of course). Shame the game wasn't that good. It could've been a great example to the world of what the 3DS can do.

I have my reserves about Activision, but there's no denying they've always been faithful about making as many consoles get a game as possible.

The 3DS version was the Same as the Wii version

It does seem like the 3DS version has slightly better texturing and coloring but if you watch the comparison, the games (Wii 3DS and 360) are almost equal. :D Continuing the thread, I'm adding Goldeneye 007 and Dead Space Extraction to the list. Especially loved the gravity jumping area when infiltrating the USG Ishimura in Dead Space Extraction.

I'm bringing back this thread because of ONE game. "Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure". This game is BEAUTIFUL! I had a chance to finally sit down and start playing this game today and my jaw dropped. Graphically I dare say it's on the level of Kameo for the 360 which was a gen 1 360 game but still, it"s amazing! Toy gimmick aside, this game is worth playing for the scenery alone!
