I don't see how this would work but it seems interesting.

I know "gaming goggles' are the new "future tech" trend at the moment, with Valve working on one and there's another one that plays Doom 3 (whoop-di-fucking-do), and that seems a bit more plausible than 360 projection.

However this is only a patent which have covered a variety of things that never happened. This could all just be brainstorming on Microsoft's part and their just making sure those brainstormed ideas don't get taken, just in case.
Oculus Rift? I thought Valve was working alongside Palmer and Carmack on it, or are they making their own to compete with the Rift?
Got any links by any chance? Would be nice if I could get this cleared up, feeling quite confused >>;

This sounds sort of interesting. Would be nice to see what comes out of this :V

It was revealed that Valve is building their own headgear that's not the Oculus Rift. But the Oculus Rift is the name of the Carmack one, thanks.

Also here was impressions on Valve's headset from NYT. It's still prototype but it answers all the questions about Valve hiring hardware designers.

Damn, wish there was more info on this(Or maybe I missed it and its already in the article?)
Thanks for the link. Can't fucking wait to see what this and the Rift will lead towards

There's no point in projecting on the walls if the main screen is still the TV. I want a room with 4 screens, one on each wall, or a sphere room with all angles of the game shown.

or a sphere room with all angles of the game shown.

What about technology to dynamically stretch video so it looks like it should when it hits the wall?

There is probably some prior art

but that would do well

Basically 3D augmented reality using kinect (hopefully a better version of kinect).
The idea of it is so badass, but the reality of what it will end up being scares me. *cough* wii, playstation move, kinect etc. *cough*
Then you have the promise of great games for it and the delivery is less than exciting.
Just the thought of a new dead island or dead rising type game using that concept...HOLY SHIT!
(This either won't happen or will be crap if it does. Please prove me wrong M$.)

I have a room, which is shaped like a box with the two walls being trapezoids. Would 720 manage it? Doubtly. Anyway, I think that technology for such displaying of content doesn't even exist yet

There is no hope for the 720.

This PDF was confirmed to be at least very credible by neogaf and the editor of the verge. The 720 is a home media center/kinectbox with planned cloud gaming support. Oh, and a $300 price point at launch, without taking a loss. That means Wii U-tier hardware.
Nobody should give a fuck any more.

How can they patent this? Gadget show did it first :P

They didn't patent it, that's why. See Apple.

Also, if this is gonna be holo, then they're a bit late. Nintendo already showed off a prototype of a holo display, although it's not as big as an entire room, just a small pyramid on a pedestal. Granted, the tech isn't exactly Nintendo's, but I'm thinking they're already playing with the idea since... early 2011 or late 2010 (the vid was dated at Feb 2011, and that display is most certainly not done overnight).

This however reminds me of that research thing that some university or some-such did with Kinect and a projector, wherein the shadows cast on a projected image interacted with the objects within that image (balls in the image rolled off of the shadow's contours).
