I remember reading awhile back the nintendo basically banned the release of binding of isaac on 3ds because of religious content. If you know wjat the Binding of isaac is you know its connected to the bible story. So its understandable that nintendo doesn't want to release something that is bias to one religion. But recently i read on the front page news of This gbatemp and it mentioned a new release of isaac with new content to several counsels including the 3ds. So that poses a question did nintendo agree to release it or was the information not good? Personally i went isaac for the 3ds i just want to know what is tis status

They are trying to get the remake on there with a rating. From what I gather is that when they wanted it to get on there the first time, the game
had no rating at all.

Maybe now Nintendo will let it thorough, specially after viewing it again with it.

Well before it was going to be an e-shop release, wasn't it?

If it will be a retail release instead, they can get away with a lot more. Atlus makes SMT games like Strange Journey on the DS (and now SMT IV for the 3DS), and that game requires you to summon demons and other religious-sensitive stuff.

Summoning Demons and making a game based around a story from the bible are two different things. Demons are used in many myths and religions, Issac is based solely to biblical religions.

In all honesty, Nintendo must have something up their pooper about Isaac if they'll let MadWorld and No More Heroes get through but this is too far. We've had tons of religious games (see El Shaddai) and the game hasn't stirred up religious controversy. Slap an age ban on it and we'll be golden.

SMT II (while it is old) allowed you to essentially "kill" the christian God as part of a main story arc.
And most of the other games have a path to go against God too. But yeah, I get how Binding of Isaac is kind of directly insulting Christianity.

More then just Christianity, I think the story also has signifigance in the Jewish faith and a Muslim varient (I may be wrong about that though.) but I think its got little to do with Religion or anything, its just the fact that it had no ESRB rating. I mean, even Colors needed a rating before it got on the shop.

Religion isn't the reason, or at least the main one. It's the fact that the game is just pretty goddamn creepy in terms of its art-style and gameplay elements. There is a kid with a hanger through his head, giant vaginas, feces and other crude stuff that would generate a lot of controversy.

edmund said that the first time he pitched the game to nintendo it wasn't popular yet and he's hoping now that it's sold over a million copies they see the potential profit and reconsider.
he also said that it will be a budged title priced between $7.50 and $15
the remake is also not %100 confirmed yet but is very very likely to happen.
sources for all three of the things i've said can be found on his formspring.
with my 404 hours of play time and all the achievements i can't wait for the remake and really hope it gets a nintendo release.

Although really the only Silent Hill game on a Nintendo system was Shattered Memories which didn't feature the diverse monsters that SH is typically known for. It was a bit more toned down as a Silent Hill game but still rather creepy and very well put together.

Still, the game is creepy, but the fact that crude, ultraviolent games like MadWorld are fine but this isn't is just rather baffling.

He was saying a game like that in general would cause a lot of controsy not just a Nintendo game. Silent hill has goddamn walking vaginas, human centipedes and penis worm monsters. Worse Madworld has to offer is throwing people into a jet turbine. Which would cause more mental damage? You guys need to realise its not on the 3DS due to ESRB issues, not because Nintendo is pissing their pants everytime they play.

Isaac didn't spark any controversy upon its release and it was well received.

All Nintendo need to do is put a "You must be this old to view this game" on the store page. If a kid lies about his age, buys it, and scars himself mentally, then that's his fault and his parents' fault. Nintendo (and all modern gaming systems for that matter) have parental controls for a reason. The rest of the gaming community shouldn't miss out on such a fantastic game because of a lot of unnecessary controversy.

My point with MadWorld is that where is the line drawn? MadWorld is very graphic and has some very crude and coarse language. It's a great game and everything, but very mature. Why we draw the line here and consider Isaac too much is just ridiculous. If Nintendo wants to get respect as a "company for all ages" then they need to act like it.

Your not understanding me. I'm saying that Issac wasn't let into the shop because

A) It wasn't very popular (or atleast not like it is now) and the whole Colors 3D fiasco showed us that indies need shitloads of credit and popularity to get in to the eShop.

B) It didn't have an official ESRB rating back then.

Its not drawing any line at Madworld (which like I said, isn't that bad compared to what else is out there) in fact this never was even about religion or violence, there were business reasons why they couldn't put it on.

It's not that the game has religious themes.

It's that it condemns Christianity. It shows a stupid idiot mother attempt to murder her son for some God that clearly isn't real (although I'm an atheist I'm not talking about in real life, within the context of the game there's no way that the God she experiences is actually the Christian God because it repeatedly asks her to abuse and kill her own son) and is a voice in her head because she's mentally deluded, and then you have to fight your way through these guys:

Fighting with your tears while putting on your mum's lipstick or perhaps choosing to suicide bomb them.

I would never expect it to be allowed by Nintendo unless the money tempts them.

What the hell are you talking about, Nintendo has made games with more disturbing shit then that.

I went over this too many goddamn times. There were actual LISENCING problems with it. Do you really think a large corporation ran by fucking Japanese people give a flying fuck about a game that offends Christianity!?

Especially one that's sold over 1 million copies and still isn't on a popular platform (Like Steam)
