Hello everyone, I thought I'd share a nice deal that I just scored on my 3DS XL--$183 shipped!

The deal is from costcaptain.com. I've never ordered anything from the site before, so I was a little suspicious. However, I checked their rating and it looked pretty good:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/view/CostCaptain/

Here's the link to the Red 3DS XL: http://www.costcaptain.com/mm5/merc...arch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=

Blue 3DS XL: http://www.costcaptain.com/mm5/merc...arch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=

*****IMPORTANT: USE COUPON CODE CPE2012. This will give you $20 off your order.*****

You'll have to pick a shipping option as their "free" shipping option is actually a subscription. Standard shipping is $5.

One last potential concern for some. If you search for the 3DS XL on their site, the price displays as $205. However, when you click on it, the price shows as $198. When I bought my 3DS XL, it did in fact choose the lower price and then applied my discount to that. So it was $198 - $20 (coupon code) + $5 shipping = $183 shipped. There's no tax. I don't think the price is an error, though even if it is, it's still the cheapest price on the Internet. In that case it's $205 - $20 + $5 shipping = $190 shipped.

Sweet. I may take advantage of this. Please post how long shipping took or if you had any problems.

That would be awesome of you.

Edit:

Just bought mine. I was on the fence about buying one for a while, but no tax, and $20 off. Couldn't pass that up.

There aren't any bad reviews for the site, and it seems legit.

The site doesn't say it's a pre-order, so I wonder if it's going to ship now. Hmmm, we'll see.

Sorry to interfere but...
For those of you interested in importing a Japanese 3DS LL like I did, I recommend Nippon-Yasan. Their replies are a bit slow and courtesy isn't the best of them, but their 3DS LL consoles are quite cheap and the shipping is quite reasonable.

I paid ¥21,085 (excluding PayPal conversion) for it with shipping. It's quite a good deal since many local stores here are selling it for $400++

Pretty sure that this site is discounts for students, so you might be required to send in your ID or other personal info to make the order. Be warned.

I second this. I bought a Limited Edition Fire Emblem 3DS Bundle from them and received it in great condition. Basically, the site is legit.

Hmm... I entered the coupon, it showed up as $20 off, but the confirmation email and online order status doesn't show it. Anyone else have this problem? Time to contact customer service.

What a shitty company:

There are a number of internet sites that build businesses around offering
coupon codes. We are not affiliated with any coupon sites and unless you

received a coupon code from us, we cannot honor coupons after the sale is

completed. Please contact the coupon site where you obtained the coupon for

a possible refund.

Thanks,

Wow, that's bullshit.

Mine came off in the order, e-mail, and it charged my credit card the $183 a few days ago.

No e-mail about it shipping yet. I'm guessing it will ship on the 19th when the handheld actually comes out.

The funny thing is I just redid my order, and the coupon went through this time. Mondo bitchy email for nothing. They don't require student IDs to order a 3DS XL from them, do they?

Anyone else get the feeling it will take 2 weeks to a month after release to get the 3DS XL from them?

Yeah, I'm not expecting it any time soon. That's what we get for being cheap...

After a whole weekend and one damn day of custom delay, my set finally arrived!

Later I'll put some pics.
It's white. I think Europe might get this color in the future because Ice White got a release there.

That ¥21,085 ($335) is so worth it!

Actually I liked Blue x Black more. :P

Well, I got to mess with my new LL for some time... Here are my 10 views:

1. That screen is MASSIVE. I was like "Woah" for the first time I opened the set. Perhaps it's also due to the small box.

2. The 3DS LL box is very small. However the EU/US version should be a lot bigger. I think it's 1/2 the size of the regular.

3. The 3DS LL screen is definitely more pixelated than regular, however the gap isn't that far away compared to previous gen.

4. (cont'd from 3) As the 3DS LL's screens are so huge, the viewing distance will naturally increase. With this, the screen pixelation is barely noticeable from the normal viewing distance and it will only look bad if your eyes are 5cm from those screens.

5. A lot more comfortable and a lot more classy looking. D-Pad feels much better too - its more clicky and thick. System feels only a bit heavier than original 3DS, despite 100g weight gain.

6. Speakers suck, sadly. Not as loud as 3DS, even on stereo. Headphone support is good and louder than original.

7. Stylus is back to square one. SD card slot a little flimsy but does the job. Cameras suck as always. Screen no longer scratches (HOORAY).

8. Full matte system is AMAZING. Feels great too. Not as "sticky" as on the original 3DS.

9. Although the Start, Select and Home are now full separate buttons, you can't press much into it. Kinda sucks, but still better than on Original.

10. Power button sinked in now. A bit more difficult to press.

Hopefully this helps others make up their mind on the 3DS XL. The color/OS may be different but the rest is simply the same.

Just a side note:
EU - Blue x Black, Red x Black, Silver x Black
NA - Blue x Black, Red x Black
JP - Silver x Black, Red x Black, White

Just curious, have you thought about contacting them about estimated shipping times? I'm slightly scared to after having a history with their customer support.
Got this email last night:
CostCaptain said:

Thank you for your recent order. We wanted to give you an update on availability and shipping.

Due to high demand for this particular product, we may face longer than usual shipment times. Meanwhile, your shipment method has been upgraded free of charge.

The ETA for this item is 7-10 business days per the update we received from the manufacturer. You are now active in the shipping queue.

Once your order ships, you will receive tracking numbers via email. Please remember that it may take up to 48 hours for the carrier to update their records with the tracking information.

If you need further help, or want to make changes to your order, simply reply to this email or proceed to http://www.costcaptain.com/help.htm.

Your customer support line is (404) 817 9684. Customer support hours are 10-4 EST.

Once again, we thank you for your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

Cool, free shipping.

But estimated time of arrival is 7-10 days per update from the manufacturer? What the hell does that exactly mean?

So they upgraded you to faster shipping for free, but you still have the $5 shipping charge, right?

Just curious, what is your order status if you check on their website?

Why's the 3DSXL so expensive in America and Japan? You can get one here for like 200€.
(The prices from playasia seem quite expensive to me..)
