Hacking R4i Advance Modified Firmware

I got really bored and just though I should improve the crappy firmware the R4i Advance team released. I also thought I should share it to anyone who accidentally got an R4i Advance flashcard.


Original Firmware Advantages:
-More Themes (But they seem to be outdated and looks ugly.)
-Uses YSMenu? if you prefer something raw.
-Reverts to classic Moonshell.

Modified Firmware Advantages:
-Uses DSTT Menu.
-Cntains RetroGameFan's, Rudolph's, and 2ch's game fixes.
-Uses rubbish.guy's NDS theme for DSTT Menu.
-Updated to Moonshell v2.10 Child Zwai Edition. (Had difficulty doing this. Took a few days to figure out.)
-Revised translations of YSMenu and DSTT Menu. (Planning on doing Moonshell.)
-Updated cheat database.

I used some of the files that belong to RetroGameFan, Rudolph, 2ch, rubbish.guy, Moonlight, TopToy DS, and the R4i Advance team so give them most of the credit. And yes, I already got permission from RetroGameFan. Read below post.

Please do not do anything to wood r4. This way may damage wood r4.If you are powerful enough, just make a third kernel by yourself with other names.

Hi all, i'm new here and i have bricked my red R4i Advance card ( white screen problem).

I have another R4 working card with NDSL and i think it's possible to fix the broken one.
Can Anyone help me?

Works on r4n3ds, but it's slow, and I prefer the default TBH.

I'm not sure. But you could try:

- Download the firmware,
- Copy the file "update.dat" to the root of your micro SD card for your working R4,
- In the R4Menu folder is a file called "update.il", rename this to "update.nds" and copy it to your working R4's micro SD,
- Go on your working R4, and run the file "update.nds"
- Take out the working R4, and put in the broken one,
- Press A, and it should update the card,

I hope this fixes your problem.

Thanks V1gY i've try to upgrade my R4 with the file downloaded from the site. I've already tried two weeks ago and also now but appear a message: IDMissmatch.Pleaseshutdown.
I've bricked my R4 because time ago i've downloaded a wrong firmware.
So my question is: it's possibile to find a WORKING firmware for my card?
