it was an epic ultimate feature? the join game on the friends list is for online games, to play with them online like in KI and MK7.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he is talking about an update it brought to the system itself, not the game. Am I right, Zantigo?

Everyone received the update with the "Join Game" button, but people who bought Super Mario 3D Land received the update about a week earlier. When you put the game into the 3DS, it prompted saying there was an update.

XD you seem to be able to get my points across better then me tonight. Your exactly right.

Even though everyone else got the update eventually, my point was that 3D Land owners got it first and I was hoping they didn't do the same with NSMB2 that's all.

Am I the only one disappointed with this Mario!
It hasn't come out yet, so there's nothing to be disappointed with at the time being. :P

That said, I don't have very high hopes. I'll probably buy it at some point, and I'll probably enjoy it, but I'm not expecting anything but another run-of-the-mill side scrolling Mario title at this point.

When I first heard of NSMB, I was very hyped!
I enjoyed a lot DS version, and am crazy to play the Wii version, I was thinking of buying WiiU just for that and Super Mario Galaxy 2!
The few seconds that were shown about NSMBU got me hyped all over again!
But the NSMB2 look like a copy-paste game, with almost no improvements compared to DS version!
For a retail game, it looks the worst 3D effect I've ever seen! Wrost graphics! Trully disappointing!

I am not sure if I like this game since it is concentrated on teh moneyz, but I am open minded and I'll give it a chance!(I will buy this little monkey alongside my new 3DS XL)

Looks very nice though c:

I actually think the whole "get as many gold coins as you can" concept was pretty cool, but just from what I've seen so far, it looks like a gimmick with no real purpose whatsoever except to "encourage" replay (read: grinding) to get higher scores.

For me it looks absence of good ideas and that they privileged the WiiU version!

I don't know if Nintendo can churn out anything new with Mario now... Galaxy was the last one I truly enjoyed.
3DLand? Meh...
Mario kinda lost it's "WOW" factor.

3D Land was too easy in my opinion, but at least it was new and fresh, in a weird retro way. I mean, they basically took Super Mario 64 and combined in with Super Mario Bros. 3 to make a completely new style of play. It was original, to say the least. I was really hoping that would be the new standard for handheld Mario games, but instead they're giving us a rehash of a rehash of a rehash of Mario games from 20 years ago. :(

I'm actually surprised they are doing this kind of thing.

I though the 3DS was the best platform to make a 3D platformer (pun not intended).

Some levels of 3D Land used this "3D perspective", and were fun. But I'm expecting more from Nintendo. Come on, this console can deliver a quality Galaxy-like Mario.

Yet we are stuck with 2D and 2.5D Mario games.

Not that 2D Mario is bad, but it seems kinda "stripped down" when you compare it to Galaxy. Definitively not the same amount of awesome for a console capable of so much more. Hell, they are even doing a Luigi's Mansion on it.

Nintendo is severely disappointing me lately. All of their games for 3DS just don't have the scale expected form them (OOT 3D and Kid Icarus aside). MK7 had less features than MKWii, SML3D isn't fully 3D, Mario Tennis Open is barebones, with almost no features at all, and now they rehash the SMB formula, without adding significant changes. What, coins appear everywhere, and new golden flower power up? Hell no.

Sunshine added new mechanics with the water gun, and the two galaxyes (although the first one was better than the second) completely revamped the Mario formula with the gravitational gameplay.

E3 was also a fiasco. They should have announced Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, anything but Wii Fit and Nintendo Land. Wake up Nintendo. You're at E3, not some holiday resort.

I know, but in the BIG conference, the one that was filled with hundreds or reporters, they just made some casual, uninteresting talk. I you watch it again, you'll notice everyone ran away at the end, when they threw in those "fireworks" in the oh so hyped Nintendo Land.

Also their Nikkei dropped about a point and a half or two points. I think it's obvious someone didn't like that presentation.

Personally, as long as it was mentioned at ALL in a way that was accessible for me to see, I could care less whether it was in "da big" conference as opposed to "de small" one.

I guess the problem wasn't that.
The problem was the lack of 3DS announcements
