Howver the 3D in this game is not so great..It honestly isn't very impressive to me at all and seems as if they didn't even try hard to make it worth turning the 3D on for this game.
i found the 3d to offer wonderful depth perception. it feels like you are looking down the court from a seat about 20 rows up. they made great use of pseudo-3d by scaling graphics so that the 3d effect looks even better. i also found that i was able to move this game around much more before i lost the 3d effect. what more would you have wanted?
Content - This game has a LOT of content to unlock! However..it's incredibly easy. You can pretty mch play on the easiest game mode keep winning and EVERY TIME you will unlock something new. I think this should have been made a bit harder to get a few unlockables.
the easy mode is... incredibly easy. playing with the gyro turned off, so that the game doesn't automatically move your character, raises the challenge level significantly. i played the first 3 tournaments in about 30 minutes with the gyro controls turned on. they were simple to get through and i only unlocked about 5 items. i then beat the 4th tournament the same way, only the very last match gave me a challenge. after that i replayed them using the circle pad and stopped mashing the X button, and found the game 50% more challenging.
Verdict - I say hold off on this game until the price drops.
i agree with that, but not $19.99. the tournaments are just training for online mode, so don't buy the game for those. online mode played exceptionally well with 0 lag and instant matchmaking. besides online play the only thing that may hold your attention will be the mini-games. but you stated that you don't enjoy the grinding for coins, where i find it incredibly fun.
i am in the process of working on a full review of this game for gbatemp, so i'll save some of my other comments until that time. i just wanted to carry on the conversation and get some of my first impressions typed up.
