We want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our viewers and fans of Inside Xbox, and remain committed to providing our members with access to high-quality news and information via the console, social media channels and Xbox.com. We will be leveraging third-party news and video content available through a variety of existing and future partners, and supplementing this content with select first-party offerings. However, day-to-day news content and weekly programming currently offered though Inside Xbox will cease production in the United States. This includes shows like Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves packaged under the Inside Xbox brand.

This has been known in the US for a week or so but the EU team was still deciding. Last night it was announced that Xbox EU would also be stopping production of Inside Xbox content.

Fans of the service are getting very angry with Microsoft about this. In the UK the Inside Xbox content was always fun and obviously made by those who loved what they did. Microsoft say they are doing this as a cost cutting measure. They will now only take free content to stream on the Xbox from 3rd parties (i.e. trailers for new games, adverts, IGN vids etc.). Just reading the comments in Major Nelson's blog its obvious that the Xbox Live community is incensed by this. They're looking at their Gold subscriptions and wondering just where that money is now going. We don't see any reduced Arcade prices, or if we do they're not advertised and our dashboards are dominated by ads instead of the content we wish to access or have bought and now Inside Xbox has disappeared completely. If Microsoft cites falling views as part of the reasons for choosing to axe it to save money we can point squarely at the latest dashboard update which hid the Inside Xbox area to a small button, and even once you were in there it was confusing to navigate.
Curse you Micro$oft.

I'll be honest and say I never knew what Inside Xbox was until now. And I use my Xbox 360 almost daily.

Like I saw the little ad for it but I never gave a fuck to know what it was. Seemed like it'd just be a shitty advertainment show that tries pushing video games on you subtly while you just watch shitty content that you can watch on Youtube without the spin.

So yeah, not a fuck was given here.

Saw a few of them. Most of the time, they were just telling me shit I already knew. Inside Xbox was usually a week or so late on the news.

Edit: what are they bitching about again? What was their Gold sub. paying for? Not Inside Xbox. I believe it was always available to even the Silver members.

I am pretty sure MS looked at how often the stuff was used and figured that since a large percentage of people do not give a crap about it they pulled it.

@chartube12 I think the IGN video will still be there

Yes, Inside Xbox was available to everyone but with the Dashboard slowly becoming an ad-filled mess and now with a community portal disappearing people are starting to question the subscription fee they pay for Gold just for online access when PSN get if for free and with less ads. Its just the straw that broke the camel's back I guess. While the gold subscription did not give access to Inside Xbox it probably financed it somewhere along the line.

The Gold subscriptions probably financed a great many things on one way, shape, or form. I hardly see that as relevant.

But I do see your point. The ads are encroaching on being the dominant content on the dashboard...and that's bad. All of these recent changes are what's making me consider trading mine in for a PS3.

Also, saying Gold is just for online play is a flawed argument. There are a great many services Microsoft offers on the 360 that often goes unsung. Neither is it a valid argument that you don't use those services.

PSN might be free and have less ads but can it really compare to what XBL offers? PSN can not even secure its user info properly.

You dont wanna do that. You can find a long list of why XBL is better then PSN, but the only thing PSN has over XBL is its free.

Looks like Major Nelson is getting discharged.

I feel bad for the people losing their jobs over this, but I'm going to be honest: I've owned a 360 since 2008 or so, and I've only seen maybe one or two of these videos at all. If you hadn't posted this article, I might not even have noticed this. So yeah, I can't say this will impact me terribly or anything.

Wait, what? Major Nelson? As in the figurehead of Xbox Live? Why?

I love paying for ads.
Love it.
Love it so much I'm going to sell this Xbox and buy something else. Something that will help my productivity instead of being fed ads for Crapnect

Plenty of 360 accounts got hacked after the Fifa 2012 incident and just in general not even by phishing. If anything it shows neither service is safe and you should avoid putting down any true info especially your debit and credit card. Not to mention the bans and not suspending your account even though it was hacked.

I'm not saying that Live isn't better or worse I am just saying they all have their ups and downs and you should keep a open mind. If you used the PSN before things change.

What the hell? I've watched every one of their videos and always watched new ones when they came out. Not only did they provide nice tutorials and service explanations, but also comprehensive impressions of Xbox Live Arcade games. They were also fairly entertaining. I'm very sad to see them go. :(
