Hacking Prilloader 0.8 beta 3 out.

That white background always gave me a headache when I always reloaded priiloader through a fresh install on either my NAND or a EmuNAND through neek.

I'll steer clear from this for now, until it's declared safe to install.

I'm still on priiloader 0.5. :creep:
If you don't have an established internet connection on your Wii when installing 0.5 for the first time there could be a brick.
Ever since it came out it hasn't given me issues that I'm aware off. :ninja:

Im using the white background and I really dont find it that bad. Maybe its because I have the brightness set to very low (kinda needed when you sit ~50cm away from the screen lol).
I actually found the black background to be more straining for the eyes for some reason. I dont know why, but it was...

what's funny is that IIRC changing the default colour back to black was requested over a year ago and daco brushed it off... I wonder what changed his mind, and why now? Oh well, no big deal.

I feel as though I've come off as pretty negative re. priiloader, and I just want to mention that I think daco's continued work on the project is a good thing... I just don't want to see people testing his new releases\betas without bootmii @ boot2 and I think a greater effort should be made to communicate the risks involved. I also think untested releases\betas especially shouldn't be made available available via priiloader updates... at least wait until they've been tested by a fair amount of people (with bootmii @ boot2) before prompting the average user to update.

The user is never prompted to update, and you don't even see the betas unless you go into settings and enable beta updates.

that's good to hear! I feel a lot better about it already. Now if there was a message that appeared when enabling beta updates that communicated the risks involved with testing priiloader betas and that it should only be done on Wii's with bootmii@boot2, I would be totally satisfied (or even better, make it so you can't enable priiloader beta updates unless bootmii@boot2 is found)

lol, that's what it, and its predecessors, are supposed to do. To access priiloader you have to ... if you don't already know, you shouldn't be testing priiloader beta's to begin with.

edit: oops, I may have read that wrong, do you mean it exits to the HBC before even loading the installer? Or did you mean it exits to the HBC after installation?

edit2: I'm pretty sure daco's latest official installer ONLY works when launched with ahbprot, so make sure you have a (or ) tag in the app's meta.xml.

yea, but if it were just priiloader without the installer then it would have immediately loaded the beta priiloader menu even without actually installing it or requiring ahbprot (unless there are MAJOR issues with the beta that is). I'm pretty sure if an ahbprot enabled meta.xml was used in conjuction with the dol then the installer menu would load.

But you actually raise a good point... what ever happened to priiloader betas being released without the installer so anyone has the option of testing the dol itself with virtually zero risk? Anyways, for all I know daco's already gotten lots of ppl to beta test it so what do I know. I'm just overly cautious with these things I guess.

"and u have bootmii @ boot2"
Glad you wrote this in bold because I don't have it @ boot2 (new wii) - I'm always under the impression that if something goes wrong while installing priiloader I can still use autoboot DVD's to run homebrew and reinstall the old working priiloader again.
Am I playing with fire?

I dont have bootmii as boot2
so I will wait like 6 months and then I will ask on this thread.... "it's safe?"

Priiloader messes with the System Menu, so if something goes wrong you won't be able to access it to run any autoboot DVD's.

PS: The @ was annoying me so I fixed it. :P

I'm currently testing beta 3 because I have bootmii boot2 (no problems so far), but I would never test something like priiloader with only bootmii IOS installed. Just sit back and wait for confirmations that it is stable (and if it has advantages over older versions), then install.
