They (Apple) won't lie about the factory unlock thing.

1. Where did you buy your iPhone from?
2. Did you try reinserting your MicroSIM?
3. Is there any signal around that area? (Test with another phone)
4. Which hand did you use to hold your iPhone?

iPhone 4 sets apparently have some reception issues and it is determined by the way you hold it.

Really? How should i hold it then? Even when im not holding it its still says no service.
Well, you might need to send it to Apple then. It MAY be a MicroSIM problem too. But if your phone is under warranty you can send in your device for (most likely) an exchange absolutely free of charge.

If the trouble remains, then there is a problem with your MicroSIM. That you need to settle with your carrier.

US iphones are carrier locked, likely to AT&T. you need to make sure it is unlocked before you can use your region's sim card. You can talk with the apple rep in your region and see if they can unlock it before you can use it.
He stated it being 'unlocked'.

But as far as I know, US phones are mainly carrier locked.
