Hey all, I been out of the loop for awhile and want to update my wii alittle.
We use Uloader to play games and vc games. So There is a few things i am wondering about and would like some help/idea's/tutorials on what to do.
My wii has a keykey v1 in it and does no longer work, because of os 4.2? Rockband2 no longer see's songs on sdcard added from rawsk. (i think thats what the rockband2 hack was called.) In uloader i add more vc games but looks like there is a 18 page limit, how do i get around this? is there another way to run vc games besides uloader? Fake nand? I do have bootmii and priloader installed. This is i guess the first release version of the wii from day 1. I do have a 250 gig usb hard drive attached, half is formated with the wbfs and the other half is split into 2 ntsf partitions. 1 for homebrew and the other for misc files and what not. So what is my best options here? oh and one more thing, "pimp my wii", is it ok and let it automatic update all the ios on the wii?
thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope to get some pointers.

Use ModMii (link in my sig). Format your drive to fat32, WBFS partitions are no longer needed. About the VC games, not really an area I play with but there is mighty channels, triiforce (maybe outdated by newer stuff now), SNEEK, and I think some usb loaders can play channels off of emulated nands (SNEEK style nand).

Tough call...
I never heard of a "keykey", so I can't help on that or say why it doesn't work (usually it's because something is changed).

RawkSD 2 is indeed the program to rip music from other guitar hero/rock band games and play them. This program needs IOS37 v3869. No later version, which is the reason why rawksdpatcher no longer works (it tries to install the latest version). There is also a rawkSD3 beta floating around, but it has a date restriction.
Also: RawkSD requires a retail version of rock band 2 in the drive. Maybe a hardware key can get around it, but if it's broke, then you'll have to use your retail version.

As mentioned: WBFS partitions aren't needed anymore for years, but because conversion to FAT32 isn't that easy, it still exists.
I can recommend neek2o as an alternative: it's indeed an emulated nand ("fake nand", as you call it), but where uloader, triiforce and mighty channels rely on cIOS to do the actual emulation, neek2o uses the emulated IOS'es. The result is better compatibility.
As with uloader, it IS possible to install downloaded songs from rock band 2 on it (and with no nand limilation but the size of your hard disk, that's pretty much limitless). Don't know how to properly get that working, though.

Also as mentioned: stay away from pimp my wii. Not only does it update a shitload of IOS'es for no reason (especially in your case: if you update IOS37, rawksd simply won't work), its support is low and details of what it is doing is pretty much nil. At least with modmii, it informs you what it is doing and what you should be doing (it generates guides), there is also much support for it AND it is updated very often.

Sorry, man. I didn't think of wbfs2fat. :shy:

But still...can it make a backup in advance to the changes? It's not that I doubt your ability, but when messing with partitions, I'll always recommend a backup*.

*because we all know that the dog, friends or other relatives will have destroyed the retail disks. ;)

Gambia, The
wbfs2fat does a backup, but not of the full disk. (but you can do that manually of course)
Doing so would defeat its purpose due to the space and time needed to create the backup.
(well it would save half the time of a traditional back and forth, but still...)
It only creates a backup of the parts that are changed.
The only drawback is that it is only useful if the conversion fails.
(it becomes invalid once new fs is actually used)

To get back on topic some suggestion to the OP:

I would reduce the number of partitions to one or two.
On small drives the gain by sharing free space is significant.
eg use wbfs2fat, move all wii files to the new fat partition and
add the space of the now empty ntfs partition to the two others (with some other partitioning tool)

As an added bonus you dont need to worry anymore about that stupid wbfs delete bug.

kool, thanks for reply guys, sorry its a wiikey not a keykey (brain fart).
k gonna check out the neek2o and see what can be done with that. Postloader3 looks interesting too.
here is the dopmii v12 report below. I wasn't aware of a wbfs delete bug.. I looked at my drive and partitions are 1 wbsf, 1 ntsf, 1 fat32.
Looks like at the time i did something right for some reason :) . I can dump the usb drive on my laptop and format the whole drive fat 32 too. I will find
wbfs2fat and use that. So set up drive first then worry about ios's then i guess is the way to go.

ok so far this is what is sorted before i dump it all to my laptop and make 1 FAT32 partition.

1, boots off usb drive no more sdcard
2, have post loader 3 booting up.
3, converted wbfs partition to fat32 and all games in wbfs folder and post loader 3 now see them all
4. it see's emunand but nothing on screen, just all blank channels. - post loader 3
5, usb sees all homebrew -post loader 3

so now before the dump to laptop and reformat drive, how do i use the emunand, use it right off the start up leaving the old nand alone?

edit : duh, i did a rescan and it brought up the channels that i used modmii windows when i frist started this today.

hidden.. i dunno. to bad cause tomorrow i was planning on dumping the whole drive and making it all 1 partition again.. think there is anyway to recover this or it it toast.. i do have alot of it backed up.. mostly all emu's and what not. just the pain of setting it all up again and some/alittle downloading. argh

what version of WiiMC u using? was ahbprot enabled (ie. no_ios_reload in the meta.xml)? I had issues with older versions of Tantric's apps (ie. WiiMC) where it corrupted my HDD also, but that bug was fixed long ago.

You could try tools like get data back to recover your data... but it didn't work for me when I had a similar issue. It was as if the app spat out a bunch of seemingly random data to the HDD overwriting my content.
