Right now, Mutant Mudds is out in the E-Shop and it is displayed quite visible on the main-screen of the eshop.

So I wonder, is it worth buying? I have seen the two trailers and read the details, but it seems gimmicky to me. You are this guy with a water pistol and a jetpack and you have to destroy mud and switch between the fore and background? Could somebody who has bought the game already tell me if it is really fun, and how long/big the game is?

After a couple hours into the game:

+Nostalgic and solid 2D platforming gameplay
+Good controls
+Visually impressive use of 3D
+Very good soundtrack

-Repetitive (little gameplay and enemy variation)
-No bosses

Overall verdict: it's worth it's $9 price. Not AAA stuff like Pushmo though.

Sorry I made a mistake...after playing a bit..

there are 4 houses of 4 level (+16 levels)
each level has a secret level (+16 levels)
clearing each house opens another level (which has a secret level in it) (+4 x 2 = 8 levels)

total of 40 levels..

there are upgrades you can buy with coins you collect on the levels.
coins you already collected are not going to show again..there are 100 coins in each level.
you can play a level again and again until you get all the coins..

after playing many times, the game starts to make sense :)

Finally...

100% in about 5 hours. Not too bad a platformer. It's the Mega Man of the 3DS. I thought it wasn't worth the price tag, but then again, I'm a platformer sucker and go for the 100% without actually taking the time to enjoy the game. xD
Anyone still debating on getting it, go for it. It's a very solid platformer.

(Why does Grandma get all the powerups simultaneously?)

The dev seems happy, so people must be buying it. :P
Renegade Kid pleased with Mutant Mudds reception

Jools Watsham is pleased with the reception for Mutant Mudds thus far.
The Renegade Kid co-founder tweeted yesterday:
“It has been an incredible week for #MutantMudds. The reception has been wonderful. It bodes well for the future of eShop. Onto the next…”
Watsham didn’t specify if he was referring to reviews, sales, or both. Mutant Mudds has been a hit among critics, and it does seem to be doing well thus far on the eShop charts. Hopefully its success will continue in the future.
