Yep... I've been holding out from playing the US version for that exact reason. I didn't think Luke's american voice would bother me this much but...... it does.

Will still be booting up the US version for London Life though :P

P.S. I do plan to buy at least one of the versions, when the price drops a bit (been buying way too much lately DX)

Does the first 3 US versions use "US voices" or "EU voices" (as you call them)?
I always felt like they had an UK accent in the US versions which sounded fine to me.

Basically Luke is voiced by a different person in the US and UK versions of the game...

Both Lukes have an "english accent", but the one in the american version is really fake sounding (and deep).

I don't think Americans would mind a fake sounding accent, but they changed the voice in the UK version so it sounds a bit more believable (and higher pitched as well).

(I think it's been like this for ALL the Layton games 1-4.... And the actor for Layton and most other characters stays the same I think.)

Still nothing? French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch versions are all out. Strange delay considering it was released more than two weeks ago...

You really prefer the UK Luke? It sounds so much like a cockney chimney sweep extra from Mary Poppins to me it makes me want to throttle him. The US one is much less of the street urchin, and is the kind of tolerable fake accent that you could associate with a public school education (in fake land)

Lol.. the key word here being 'fake'... It's not the actual accent that bothers me- it's that it's so obviously fake I can't take Luke seriously in the US version.. And hey, I actually like the stereotypical cockney accent the Brit actress does, it's kinda cute :P

I know, this is kinda pissing me off now. If EVERY other EU region's version has been dumped, surely someone out there can do the UK version?! I was planning on importing the US version for London Life and getting the UK version from the internetz, but my plan hasn't worked out very well :'(

B'awwww the UK version hasn't been dumped yet?
Easy. Go to the store and buy it.
Then you can dump it and either keep it for yourself/release it to the scene.

...If you didn't get it from my previous post, I'm sort of against buying the UK release as they cut out London Life. So people in the UK are paying more money for a game with less content.

Also, games here really aren't cheap fyi - since Layton games are so popular, even buying it online would be around at least £26 ($40~)

So yeah, I can wait. I was just surprised it's taking so long, is all.. not complaining. :P

But if you buy it, you would be able to find out how to swap the UK voices with the US voices in the US version.
(I'll have you know games are more expensive than that over here.)

Pricing on games shouldn't be a reason for piracy.
Not counting Professor Layton should normally be worth the money.

I dunno. I'll probably end up buying the UK release anyway. Since buying the US version would be equally pointless. Would make more sense downloading the London Life version so I can keep the legit version as the one I play on the most.

....Jeez, you got me really confused now :/ Summary: I will probably end up buying the UK version once I have more money/it comes down in price.

....Really? .__. I thought £26-35 for a DS game was pretty expensive, considering americans usually get them for $20-35...

I just checked the prices for Sonic Generations:
The 3DS version is about $40, while the PS3/360 versions are $50.

...Wait, you mean where you live? I'm guessing you did.

For me the 3DS one is $50, but the PS3/360 ones are about $28 :S

Dunno what my point was tbh. In conclusion, I think americans get the cheapest games. W/e.

I also think the USA gets the cheapest prices.
I have no idea what the prices for Japan and South Korea are, though.
But I know that those guys over there in Brazil and Australia have them for like $70.
Australia even issued a ban against Mortal Kombat (Or was it Street Fighter?), preventing anyone from importing any of these games to Australia. This is one of the few times I actually think piracy is a good idea.
