Gaming do you agree the psp is a fail?

People who see the things in terms of the Sony vs. Nintendo camp here are missing the point:

If you consider yourself a true Nintendo fan, you owe it to yourself to give this wonderful piece of hardware a try. Who cares that the PSP library is inferior to DS. It can,overall, play more Nintendo games than the DS.

It's a great portable emulator and homebrew device.

I just prefer DS because it has more games that are my style

Doesn't compete with some of the NDS titles, and UMD was a flop but as a whole the console was pretty good.

I don't see it that way. IMO while the Psp has less good games when compared to the DS (Less crappy ones too), Psp's best games are usually better then the DS ones.

Hardware: fail (mostly the bulky UMDs). The only good thing would be the analog stick and amazing battery life (mine usually lasts 6-7 hrs of gaming, which is more than enough per day). The psp Go was an apparent fail (already stopped making world-wide except the US; I gotta get myself one before they're gone ), but the 16gb internal + its compact size might be good to play my VNs, as VNs don't require intensive button controls (like KH or the like).

Software: not such a huge library, but less shovelware and the good ones are usually better than good DS games.

Peripherals: Memory sticks are super pricy and are required if you're going all-digital. Otherwise (for saves only peeps), the one that comes with the psp or a 1-4gb stick is sufficient.

The Go is fine for KHBBS. It didn't bother me at all going from my 1000 to the Go. Only improvement. The 1000 analog sucksss.

And I prefer clicky buttons over the pushy ones. (I'm not sure how else to explain them, LOL)

I actually get what you mean, although it's a dsl vs. ds phat/dsi/3ds case. The lite's buttons were kind of mushy and didn't feel like you were pressing on it. The phat/dsi/3ds buttons feel more solid and they practically 'click'.

I might be getting a Go then. Or I might save up for a Vita and/or ice white 3ds.

Let me play every psp game with the Dpad instead of the AWFUL analog stick and give me better online wifi and id say the psp is easily the superior console.

The DS does have better games tho in comparison to the psp and for multiplayer games the DS wins hands down.

would have been a wonderful console if it got the ds's dpad and buttons... loved the L and R buttons though... still work wonderful today

basically, every single game did at some point suffer from the sluggish dpad or the square button that stopped popping out again after being pressed... this was especially true for almost every homebrow und most every emulation...

other than that, the games were mostly ok, some ports were done badly, but there were good games anyway. by far not a fail. would've been better if they used flash disks or whatever from the very start though.

though i heard, over the revisions, things got slightly better, its still the worst flaw a handheld could have

No, there's quite a few fun PSP games, and the emulation is really where it's at anyway.

I've yet to find a Sudoku variant as fun as Go! Sodoku for PSP. LBP was fun, Lumines is great fun, Patapon series was simply amazing. PSP doesn't touch DS in terms of great series/games, but it has it's gems. i'm really hoping they correct this with the Vita and go all out like they did with the PS2.

Let's not be fanboys here... The DS might've outsold the PSP, but that doesn't mean it's a failure. They both have pros and cons, so there's no such thing as what's better and what isn't, it's all about the games that comes for both handhelds. The PSP does in fact have games the DS doesn't while the DS has games the PSP doesn't.

I do not regard the PSP as a fail, why?

1. Even though it didn't outsell the DS, it was still commercially successful
2. It had some very awesome software
3. Most importantly, it was an enjoyable console for the most of us. This is what really matters. (even though the analog nub was seriously uncomfortable)

I personally think that the psp failed in the games department, but it is a decent system that plays music and movies, etc...

I can honestly say that if I could not mod the psp then I would have not bought it since I only own 2 games for it and never play them anymore.

The psp is fail. My little brother got one after ignoring me when I told him to get a DS instead.
Now hes stuck playing old ass games and constantly asking me if there are any good rpgs, I just laugh at him (this kid only plays jrpgs and action adventure games).

Anyone who says the PSP is 'a fail' (even though 'to fail' is a verb) has obviously never played any of its games. The PSP clearly doesn't have as many good games as the DS, but it still has a lot.

I also agree that the PSP was not a failure, I've had the old 1000 model for quite some time, and with modding and homebrew, I've been using it quite a lot.
