While attempting to do some drawing on my 3DS with Colors!, I noticed two things. One, if I try to calibrate, Pushing hard gives me a valiue that is nearly exactly the same as barely touching it at all (I cant remember right now, but I believe it was 223 and 225 about. I'll edit this later), and when I go to draw, the entire left side of the touch screen I can hardly draw on. Can someone test to see if this is just a compatibility error or if my 3ds is just screwed up?

Colors! has a new version than the one you're using. Grab it here: http://www.naughtyna...uk/?page_id=482

It's got a new brush, and single step undo. It won't help with your touch screen problems, or give you pressure sensitivity on a 3DS, but it's worth mentioning. (Apologies if my assumption is incorrect about which version you have. You mentioned the pressure calibration screen. The new version calibrates [mostly] automatically.)

Noted. I'll download it tonight after work and test it. Could someone do me a favor and test it on a 3ds and tell me if they are having problems or not?

I don't get why nintendo have made it NON-pressure sensitive. Surely newer hardware keeps the good quirks of the old?

Have you noticed this "new" infrared slot thing on the 3DS?
They got rid of it after the GBC and now it's back as a new feature.
I thought it became integrated into the DS? Or obviously due to my stupid lack of knowledge about anything, this is probably wrong. But I do rememeber Pokemon Black/White having an IR function

Yes, but they had to have a special game cartridge. They took out an old feature and re-introduced it as special.

I'm pretty sure the 3DS (and DSi) doesn't support the pressure sensitivity.

It does.

It's a resistive touchscreen. All of them support it. The 'pen pressure' you get from those types of screens basically work by how hard you press down, it pushes more of the upper layer of the screen down at the time onto the bottom layer, creating the 'touch'. So if you press really hard, a lot of that upper screen is going to come into contact with the lower part which basically emulates 'pen pressure' like a tablet would.

Nintendo has never officially supported this type of pen pressure and only homebrew programs/games use it, I believe.

Guess it depends on how you define "support it". As I understand it, Nintendo cut off low level access to the values Colors! reads for its pressure for all DSi/3DS revisions. The registers always return 0, which means they're unusable to any software. So the touchscreens on DSi and 3DS consoles might "support" detecting how many of the touch screen's points the stylus is touching, but that number can't be used by any DS program.

Now, Colors! does have a feature where it will slowly increase opacity when it's on a DSi or 3DS, but it does it at a fixed rate. It's not controlled by the pressure at all. The difference is very apparent if you've messed with it on a console that does support pressure, and one that doesn't.

Try this: Grab Colors! 1.06. Throw it on your 3DS/DSi. Go the calibration screen. Tap as hard or as soft as you like. You'll get zero 100% of the time. If you don't, you've got a lucky quirky system.

Edit: More on topic.

I just tried the latest Colors! version on my 3DS in both scaled and unscaled modes and it worked fine. Tried the older version (just unscaled for that one), and it also worked fine.
