PPSSPP Switch Community Build

An unofficial Nintendo Switch community port of PPSSPP, based on PPSSPP v1.20.4.
This release focuses on stable game audio, correct video and cutscene playback, Nintendo Switch compatibility, and a reproducible build process.

Nintendo Switch Integration

  • Nintendo Switch libnx support
  • OpenGL ES graphics backend
  • Switch-compatible memory and threading changes
  • Homebrew Menu icon
  • Embedded NACP application metadata
  • Correct /switch/ppsspp/ application data path
  • Safe handling for unsupported external browser actions

Installation

Download the latest release ZIP from the GitHub Releases section.
Extract the ZIP directly to the root of the Nintendo Switch SD card.
The resulting structure must be:
Code:
SD:/switch/ppsspp/PPSSPP.nro
SD:/switch/ppsspp/assets/
After replacing an existing version, completely close and reopen the Homebrew Menu so the updated application icon and metadata are refreshed.
Launch PPSSPP normally from the Homebrew Menu.

New update log

PPSSPP Switch Version 0.6.5

Nintendo Switch community release based on PPSSPP v1.20.4.

Highlights

  • Added hardware-tested ARM64 JIT cache-pointer preservation fixes.
  • Corrected the tested ARM64 IR/JIT cache-pointer crash path.
  • Added parallel software depth rasterization using safe, non-overlapping worker tiles.
  • Added Nintendo Switch process-core detection for worker scheduling.
  • Corrected affected texture and CLUT memory reads.
  • Fixed video swizzle-buffer initialization and ownership.
  • Corrected negative render-target offsets in the OpenGL ES path.
  • Fixed SDL trigger mapping and right-stick diagonal threshold behavior.
  • Improved native Switch keyboard and multilingual input support.
  • Added fallback fonts for CJK, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai and Lao.
  • Retains the validated FFmpeg 57 video and 48 kHz audio fixes from Version 0.6.0.

    Recommended Configuration

  • CPU core: JIT
  • Graphics backend: OpenGL ES
Version 0.6.5 includes the tested ARM64 IR/JIT correction, but regular JIT remains recommended for the widest compatibility. Vulkan is not supported.

Thank you very much for your hard‑working community build, the recent updates greatly improved audio and video playback for many PSP games on Switch.

Right now what we users need most is Vulkan (NVK) backend support. Many heavy PSP titles suffer performance bottlenecks under OpenGL‑ES. If it’s possible to add NVK‑based Vulkan support in future versions, it would bring huge performance gains for demanding games.

Understand this is a huge amount of work, no pressure. Just a feature request from end‑users. Appreciate all your efforts!

I'm not a Dev but someone ask him about Vulkan

" Yeah, I'm currently investigating whether I can get Vulkan working in the Switch build. I can't promise it yet, but it's definitely something I'd like to add if I can make it work reliably.
For now, I'm mainly focused on fixing the existing compatibility and performance issues. Thanks for the suggestion! "
