Homebrew game Project [Release] The Minish Cap – Alek's Ultimate NX Edition | Dual Screen, FLIP GRIP SUPPORT, Touch, RetroAchievements

Hello, it's me again. I've run into another problem: When you go to the city dojo to learn the first special sword technique, the game freezes.
Same problem.

Also at very beginning, I can enter LonLon Ranch and pick the key, but it doesn’t work, and you can’t exit through the door. I can also turn into mini‑Link there, even though the hat isn’t saved yet. But that doesn’t help anyway, because I can’t leave the yard in the mini form, and I can turn back to normal only inside the house.

MAJOR UPDATE!!!
1787634357429.png

Added

In-app updater

The game can now check for, download and install its own updates from the
second screen, under CONFIG → SYSTEM. No PC required after this release.

After installing, close the game and open it again to run the new version.

The updater replaces the game program and nothing else. Your ROM, saves,
autosave data, extracted assets and settings are never read or written by it.

Link's position marker on the MAP tab

The second-screen map now shows where you actually are with Link head ;)

Changed

  • Rebuilt autosave storage — a checksummed three-slot ring with an explicit
discovery rule. It never renames a file into place, and it migrates older
autosave data forward on first run, so a crash or power loss mid-write cannot
leave you without a readable autosave.
  • Corrected lineage and attribution. Earlier releases credited
    EstebanPdN/zelda-tmc-3ds only
as a reference. That was wrong, and this release fixes it. This edition's
core descends from that project: the Switch tree was branched from its
native port at commit afdde1b7 (2026-05-10), where 742 of 768 core source
blobs match. It is now credited as a direct code ancestor. See
    CREDITS.md.

Fixed

  • Pause map regressions — stale HDMA state is reset when the pause map is
opened, map layer offsets use the native layout, and missing map assets are
repaired on the fly instead of rendering wrong.
  • Autosave recovery — data written by older versions is quarantined rather
than misread, and recovery no longer depends on write ordering the SD card
    does not guarantee.
  • Menu fixes in the figurine viewer and the pause menu.
  • Further native-port gameplay fidelity work, including collision handling.
  • Knowing Random Freezes.

Known limitations

  • True widescreen is not part of this release.
  • Built and tested as the USA edition (BZME). Use a USA ROM.

Install

Simplified Chinese language support still hasn't been added in this update. Could you please implement Simplified Chinese localization for the next version?

Sorry Mate, its kinda difficult add more languages, a lot of testing adding more gylphs and chinese is would be almost added gylphs

I wasn't expecting a port like this; it's definitely a great idea. I'm curious to try A Link to the Pastas well.

In the normal mode (single screen) the aspect ratio is 4:3 (or 3:2 as the native GBA) or 16:9?

This port adds some Qol feature?

Hi brother ;)

In this port is kinda 16:9 but not full supported yet, I would be workin on it soon. (ALtTP had true 16:9)

Was there a mixup between the normal and high quality music ? Normal sounds better than high quality lol
Yeah, for me the best sound is Enhanced + Crisp, but 'GBA' mode sounds good too. I put both options so anyone could choose the one that sounds better :)

I've just run into another problem: when I reach the highest point of Mt. Crenel, the map looks like this:

I will do a hotfix for that, are u using the newest version? Also could you provide me the tmc.log?
Sorry, I hadn't noticed that a new update was recently released that fixes that problem. By the way, I looked for that tmc.log file but couldn't find it. Where exactly is it located?

it supposed to be on tmc folder.

No worries! And don't bother looking for tmc.log release builds don't write it so it's not on your SD. My bad brother

v1.0.1 was released specifically for the bug you reported. Two things I'd appreciate you confirming:
  1. That you're actually on v1.0.1 — check BUILD INFO on the second screen under SYSTEM. If you're on v1.0.0, the game can update itself: CONFIG → SYSTEM → it will offer 1.0.1, then close and reopen the game.
  2. That the summit of Mt. Crenel now renders correctly for you.
You'd be the first hardware confirmation of the fix, so a quick "works now" (or a screenshot if it doesn't!) would help a lot.

Okay, I just downloaded the new update and now the summit of Mt. Crenel is displaying correctly.

Thanks for your great work, bro.

Me again, this time I encountered a problem in the Mt. Crenel dungeon: In the place I show you in the following image, a moving platform should appear to cross the magma, but it never appears no matter how much time passes.

Hello

I was playing your port of ALttP yesterday and it's working perfectly. Great job, man.

And thanks for adding plans for a Brazilian Portuguese localization.
