New 2DS XL wifi/internet not working

I'm trying to update my NEW 2DS XL console but having trouble connecting to and finding the internet through the wifi connection.

I've gone into the Internet settings and checked connecting settings. Even deleted connection settings, entered all the settings manually (IP Address, DNS, Proxy, NTU, SSID, security etc). Tested the connection but it still fails (Could not connect. Connection Test failed). Was working last time I updated it which was back in October 2025.

Does that mean you were using the same wireless router at the time?

Have you tried setting up a wireless hotspot with your smartphone?

Yes still using the same wifi router, When I do a connection test it says "could not connect" from the New 2DS XL to the Access Point.

Never tried wireless hotspot on mobile. But just tried and the 2DS connects fine to the Android phone Wifi Hotspot (WPA2/WPA3-personal) on my Android phone. If I switch back to my Wifi Router/modem and try to connect to that on the 2DS won't connect. Even though I'm using the same wireless security protocol (WPA2-PSK) on both the 2DS and the Wifi router/modem.

Also have another wireless access point in the house. Tried that and am able to connect to that without any problems. So guessing that the 2DS just doesn't like my wifi modem/router for some unknown reason.
