Super Mario 64 has really become the "new Doom" hasn't it? Someone just ported it to the Zeebo.

Ever since the Mario 64 recompilation project gave us the game's source code, I’ve seen it ported to various platforms Wii U, PS Vita, 3DS, Dreamcast, and even much more limited consoles like the PS1 and GBA.

Somehow, even the Zeebo just got a port.

The Zeebo was a console released only in Brazil, India, and China, it was a commercial failure that lasted only from 2008 to 2011, yet it boasts some interesting titles such as one of the best Double Dragon remakes and excellent ports of Quake 1 and 2. It’s wild to think someone actually wanted to port Super Mario 64 to it.

I suppose the only thing that would surprise me now is if someone tried to port it to the SNES using the Super FX chip.

I genuinely want to see a dev attempt this, since there were rumors that there was some kind of 3D Mario prototype for the Super FX chip back in the day. Even a proof-of-concept demo would be intriguing to me.

I have to look up if those 3D Mario prototype rumors were true.

I don't think it's impossible, just extremely difficult.

The closest thing we've seen so far was a recreation for Game Boy Color.

its basically ouya for sane customers.

Not sure how satirical this is, but the console launched in Brazil and Mexico only at ~$250 USD (R$499) [Source] and was only later reduced to ~$150 USD (R$299) [Source] The device also only supported 3G for internet connectivity with no Ethernet port or Wifi adapter available (With 3 USB 2.0 ports, I can't find any information on whether you could connect your own adapters to support those). In retrospect, I think OUYA might've been the better purchase, even if neither one lasted very long

ARM 11 and ATI GPU, not the worst hardware to re-compile the game.

I had to google what a Zeebo is.

It was an good idea for the time. But the price was too high imo. 250$ launch price in Brasil and Mexico in 2009 for a budget machine was crazy.
