As for Youtube's "horrible" copyright system, Alphabet is protecting itself from the very thing you are so concerned about: Being sued for copyright infringement. If they leave something up that is being claimed to be under copyright protection, they may be liable for damages. If they take it down, they are safe. Why are the safe? Because you fundamentally have no right whatsoever to have your videos on their platform. Ultimately it is at the sole discretion of Alphabet (Youtube's parent company) if a video is available on their site. And of course, that discretion has nothing whatsoever to do with copyright law.
