Pokemon Champions gets new overview trailer, launches April 8th

After it was previously announced that it would launch sometime in April, Pokemon Champions has had a new trailer looking at the game's systems and features. In the trailer we get a more in-depth look at how Pokemon are both acquired and trained, and how Victory Points are used in the game. We also see the abilities for Mega Meganium, Feraligatr, and Emboar for the first time, with Meganium and Feraligatr getting abilities that are new to the series in Mega Sol and Dragonize. Mega Sol will allow Mega Meganium to use moves as though Sunny Day is in effect, while Dragonize will change Normal-typed moves to Dragon type and boost their power by 20%. For fans of ROM hacks, both of these may sound familiar, with Chloroplast and Draconize from Elite Redux largely sharing these effects.

The game's release date was formally announced at the end of the trailer, with it set to launch on the 8th of April alongside a paid Starter Pack. This Starter Pack will offer increased box space, a trainer battle theme from the Let's Go games, 30 Teammate Tickets, and 50 Training Tickets. On the subsequent news post on the Pokemon website, it was also confirmed that the Switch 2 version will feature enhanced graphics.

Is this free btw?

I absolutely love Pokémon Pokopia because it is very life simulation and Animal Crossing-esque game, so I'm not interested in Pokémon Champions at all.

Yeah, I will absolutely skip Champions series.

Free to start. Not entirely sure what the microtransactions will be like as a whole, but there's no upfront cost to just play the game.

That said, iirc, an active Pokemon HOME subscription will be required if you want to recruit your HOME Pokemon for Champions. But other than that, there should be no issues getting a team together and building it up, outside of needing to earn VP.

Okay, that is nice. Atleast I can give it a try then :)
