Donald Glover announced as the voice of Yoshi during The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Nintendo Direct

Announced during today's Nintendo Direct, it has been confirmed that the critical role of Yoshi in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be none other than Donald Glover, the American actor of Community fame and and musician under the name Childish Gambino. The dinosaur, originally joining the Mario cast in the 1990 Super Nintendo release Super Mario World, has played a pivotal role in the series to date, leading many to speculate who could could possibly fill those iconic red boots. With so few voice lines featured so far, it is yet to be seen whether Glover will truly be the perfect fit.

The final trailer for the movie was also aired.

Well, this got a fully hearty laugh out of me.

Thanks for posting this Onion article. Now who's the real voice actor for Yoshi?
The post contents are accurate. I simply chose the most important part of the Direct to report on.

For the hard-core fans, maybe, yeah, but this isn't targeted towards adults really. I still think it'll smash in the box office.
Hardcore fans? For Mario? What does this even mean? I’m a huge Mario fan and I’m going to go see this in theaters.

Didn't particularly enjoy the first, but I'll still watch this (at home). It's a shame Nintendo didn't make animated Mario and Zelda movies in the 90's as back then the animation was a lot better.

There's still good animation these days of course.

Jesus this sounds like a terrible idea. If Yoshi talks in the movie that will 100% ruin it for me. Why is Nintendo making this worse and worse with these celebrity picks that make no damn sense
Doesn't say anywhere that Yoshi will have any lines outside of saying their name like a Pokemon lol, I imagine that will be the extent of it.
