After much anticipation, The Pokemon Company have today announced the latest entries to the core Pokemon series: Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves. Set to launch globally in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2, the trailer premiered as the finale to today's Pokemon Presents presentation celebrating the series' 30 year anniversary. In the short trailer, we got our first glimpse of the games' new region, as well as the Pokemon you'll be able to pick to journey with you: Browt, Gecqua, and Pombon.

Based on the trailer, the games appear to feature a much fuller open world than their predecessors Scarlet and Violet, including underwater exploration for the first time since Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. With the tenth generation of Pokemon set to kick off next year, we can expect more details to follow in the coming months.

Good news after myrient announced it’s shutting down

No idea how those two events are related but ok? Considering Myrient never even hosted Switch content to begin with, it's entirely unrelated.

That being said, it's sad Myrient shuts down, it was such a dope service. Sadly I don't have the stable enough Internet connection at the moment to mirror most of it to my NAS, but if I had, I could likely create a Myrient mirror. Hopefully someone managed to mirror Myrient until I get more stable Internet.

______________

Anyhow, for me, if the game doesn't let me import and use my Pokémon GO Armoured Mewtwo (and many other Pokémon), I have no reason to buy this game really.

The Switch 2 would also need to be moddable with CFW first before I even consider getting it and anything for it.

Money and time saved & better invested elsewhere. Meh.

Wow this one actually looks good, I skipped over swsh and scarlet and violet bc they look mediocre but this one looks promising. Not too big on the starters but if I had to choose one Id choose browt :P

I don’t have my hopes up for these being any good. I am betting it’s going to be low rendered textures, poor design choices, and poor optimization. Also still no voice acting. Anyways, Palworld has my heart now

Watching with interest. SV lost me, Legends ZA won me back. These give me big Hoenn and Alola vibes so I’m intrigued.
I don't give a single fuck about the game reveal. I WANT POKÉMON TO DIE. D-I-E. Also, unhappy 30th anniversary to this damned franchise.
Nobody cares, take a fucking day off.

He should take a whole week off, if not an entire month.

As for me, I don't have a Switch 2 yet, but I'll be keeping on eye on this with interest as well. It's still too early to tell, but given that they're announcing this at least a year in advance, and the improvement Legends Z-A is performance-wise over SV (at least on Switch - can't comment on the Switch 2 edition), we might see some improvements over SV.

Also, even if I didn't always pick Fire for my first Pokemon in any Pokemon game (or Eevee>Espeon, if given that choice), I'd still pick Pombon.

The games actually look somewhat recent this time.

Not really a fan of some of the Switch 2 exclusives being exclusive. I have a Switch 2, I genuinely think a lot of it would run on Switch at lower resolutions. Cross gen MK and Air Riders would definitely help matchmaking times. Maybe it's necessary for this one, but it still looks last gen to me.

Eh, yes and no. Even if you don't aim to get as close to consistent 60 FPS as possible, there's more that can be done with 9GB of RAM than 4GB (not counting the OS as part of the 4GB).

Like with Donkey Kong Bananza. That game is so detailed in where and what you can destroy (using voxel tech, instead of preset objects and spots like, say, Minecraft or BotW's bombable spots), it's surprising that the game only suffers slight performance drops when a lot is happening (particularly near the end when a lot of happening). And I'm not factoring in Gameshare with Switch, because iirc that's technically using some of the 3GB on Switch 2 that's reserved for OS stuff to stream a less resource-intensive instance to another system for local play.

How about YOU take a whole YEAR off instead? I'll be much happier.
I don't need to take time off. Seeing you get triggered by my mere presence makes me happy enough already. Incidentally, have you considered spending a year just ignoring Pokemon and laying in some grass if you're that triggered by it being mentioned? I've heard it's a great stress-reliever.

More open-world games? Uggghhh...
I play the older games - Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, HG, Black, Black 2 - because their closed-world formats were still solidly done; it was impossible to get lost and not know what to do next, and it was easy to find and battle every Trainer throughout the regions (for EXP and cash).

I can't stand open-world games, as world traversal tends to be slow and tedious, it's easy to get lost without plenty of dev-placed map markers, and it's easy to overlook Trainers. There's a reason I've never gone back to Violet; the gameplay isn't fun.

Plus, with this being a Switch 2 exclusive, there's no way to mod out bullshit like forced Exp. Share, nor any way to dump save files for PKHeX usage - so yeah, not playing this.
