Nintendo releases the first official trailer for the new "Super Mario Galaxy Movie"
After a couple days of anticipation since Nintendo announced a movie-specific Direct some days ago, many were eager to see what the new movie could hold in store for Nintendo and their main IP in the big screen, after the success that was the first Mario Bros. Movie.
Yesterday, Nintendo officially released the first trailer for the "Super Mario Galaxy Movie", which sees many familiar faces included into the trailer, with some interesting twists and callbacks to many assets, places and other characters from the story of the franchise.
The trailer starts off with Bowser being kept in his mini-sized state, alongside a mini-castle, making a painting of him and Peach. The first half of the trailer focuses on this scene from the movie, while after it, we get a glimpse of Peach and Mario atop Peach's Castle gazing at the huge amount of shooting stars, before Peach and Toad jump into a Launch Star from the Mario Galaxy game. We then shift focus to Luigi and Mario riding motorcycles across a desert, which seems to be inspired by the Sand Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey. The next brief scene shows Peach getting attacked by a bunch of Ninji enemies in a casino setting, with a close resemblance to the roulette from the Boo boss in Super Mario Sunshine's Sirena Beach hotel. Then the trailer cuts to the reveal of Bowser Jr. with his magic brush, attacking the Mario brothers to free his father from them. We get the title reveal, and to close off the trailer, we get a glimpse of Rosalina being attacked by the Megaleg boss from Super Mario Odyssey, only for Rosalina to fend it off easily with her magic wand.
The "Super Mario Galaxy Movie" is set to release in April, 2026 on theaters worldwide.
