Are you sure this is supposed to work at all..? Considering the servers have been shut down, I imagine it's quite possible the cheat plugin puts the program into some kind of invalid state.

Do you mean Pretendo, or what..? Because there's nothing about Badge Arcade at https://pretendo.network/progress .

Regardless, I expect the place to ask would be at whatever forum is used by whatever "revival servers" you are using.

Is anyone else having an issue where there splash screen doesn't show up with the current version of Luma? I recently modded and new 3ds xl (and updated an older o2ds) and the splash screen no longer shows on either of them. I, of course, made sure it was enabled in the Luma menu (tried both before and after) and I also added a new one from Anemone, but nothing seems to work. (To be clear, the Luma splash screen was working before I updated my to the latest version of Luma.)

Any help is appreciated!

My brother tried to hack a nintendo 3ds and it's now bricked (or at least it seems so). I don't know what he did but the SD now looks like this:

The nintendo doesn't start but the blue LED starts for a second. Is it fixable without needing to buy anything or opening it?

Look like he attempted to install boot9stap and luma3ds, first thing to check is hold down select while pressing power button on, to see if you have luma3ds configuraion menu, and you can also check hold down start button while pressing power button to see if it launch godmode9.

That is considerably more descriptive than "it's now bricked".

Is there such a thing as parental controls for hshop? I was thinking of giving a family friend's kid a 3DS as a present (they say that its been asked for) and I would rather just mod it to help them out with games that aren't available anymore, but I wonder if there is something I can do to stop them from going on hshop and just downloading anything. Is there a way to lock it down? Only thing I could think of is just uninstalling hshop altogether before giving it to them, but any remotely resourceful kid should be able to reinstall it once the system is already modded.

What exactly makes you think there should be a parental control that "any remotely resourceful kid" wouldn't be able to circumvent just as easily..?

well, it would be more than nothing, and would at least require non-public knowledge (ie. a password). Google can tell you how to install hshop in a few seconds. It cannot tell you a parental controls password (though yes, I assume you could just force it with time).

Is there a popping noise from the speakers too? It's been a while but IIRC a blue light, both screens black, and then turning off after a second and making a popping sound, is a specific hardware issue. Might be a connection problem, like one of the components (wifi card, screen cable) came loose. Sorry my answer is vague, it's been a while since I did this. Just asking cuz it might be a hardware issue.

I have a few Powersaves backups of my copy but unfortunately lost it. I aquired a new one but it has a different cart cert of course and thus I can't restore the original save to the new cart. Now that we have the unlocked bootrom and the leaked AES keys can't you just bruteforce decrypt the save with an RTX cart? I'd do it even if it takes a couple of weeks..

Isn't the whole point of Powersaves backups is that they're supposed to be interchangable between carts?

The only RE work I've heard of regarding Powersaves is from the old https://github.com/yellows8/oot3dhax project, which links to https://github.com/Myriachan/Powersaves3DS/ . Unfortunately it is all very mysterious.

ETA: Thinking about it some more, I guess Pokemon Y uses the newer cartridge save encryption. (Oot3dhax is the only exploit that ever had a Powersaves installation option since Oot3D is the only exploitable game that uses the old cartridge-save format.)

Assuming you can somehow get something equivalent to the sort of encrypted cartridge savefile dump that you can make with Godmode9, the tool you would use is https://github.com/wwylele/save3ds , which is also shrouded in mystery. I have the impression that decrypting a cartridge save does in fact require unique cartridge-specific data, and if you were going to decrypt it from scratch, it would take decades, not weeks. But you're unlikely to find anyone with much knowledge of the details.

I'm currently trying to dump a cartridge to a .CIA using godmode9 and the 3ds hacks guide reads
"

1. Press and hold (Start), and while holding (Start), power on your console. This will launch GodMode9
2. Navigate to [C:] GAMECART
3. Press (A) on <TitleID>.trim.3ds to select it, then select "NCSD image options...", then select "Build CIA from file"
4. Your installable .cia formatted file will be outputted to the /gm9/out/ folder on your SD card"

However, when I attempt to perform step 3, I'm given a message reading "CIA build failed". Anyone know what's wrong here?

I rewrote code.bin, rebuilt the 3DS, and then disassembled the 3DS file to see what differences each file had compared to the original 3DS file. Naturally, code.bin changed, but so did HeaderNCSD.bin, HeaderNCCH0.bin, HeaderExeFS.bin, and ExeFS.bin. Could you please explain why these files have different values from the original files?
