Intel and Nvidia are teaming up in an unlikely partnership, which will see new products released in both the consumer and AI enterprise sector. As of late, Intel has been struggling, but with the announcement of a collaborative effort between it and Nvidia, the latter will be making a massive $5 billion investment into the company, making Nvidia one of Intel's largest shareholders. This will benefit Nvidia as part of the agreement will see Intel building them custom CPUs for their AI infrastructure, while Intel will be allowed to release x86 SoCs that are integrated with Nvidia RTX GPUs.

For personal computing, Intel will build and offer to the market x86 system-on-chips (SOCs) that integrate NVIDIA RTX GPU chiplets. These new x86 RTX SOCs will power a wide range of PCs that demand integration of world-class CPUs and GPUs.

Which one was it??

Pretty sure they're referring to Meteor lake (13/14th "gen"). If you can be certain to have a patched up BIOS and get a brand new CPU, you should be fine with those. Granted they are already known for running hot.

But I wouldn't trust a secondhand meteor lake chip for anything. Not even at a steep discount.

Very funny that the US governement and now Nvidia are trying to throw money at Intel, the CPU company that literally had an entire generation of CPUs that were literally defective with how badly they were with the thermals and oxidized themselves to death with the only thing of value right now being thier fab, compared to AMD, the other one that actually made several strides in thier own CPUs within the few years alone and also has thier headquarters and was founded in the US.

Keeping Intel around is strategic.

Intel have done extremely well designing around their fab issues to maintain any amount of competitiveness.

Not long until we have two choices:

1) Buy AMD and get a good CPU with a decent GPU.
2) Buy Intelvidia and get a good GPU with a decent CPU.

NVidia are likely betting on Nova and Grizzly Lake.

Very strange bedfellows given the fact that Intel only just entered the fray in terms of dedicated graphics cards. You’d think they would integrate their own architecture into their chips. Then again, maybe this is NVidia’s back door into the x86 market more than anything else, and in Intel’s financial situation they’ll take any ally.

(Context. Xerox was mostly known for printing. At one point the company was struggling and their software department was doing better. Those on the top decided to kill those other endeavors to focus on their printing end.)

AMD on the other hand, can deliberately focus in the big chunk of forgotten Gamers that won't be able to afford whatever Nvidia + Intel comes up with.

Either way it's a win.

- Prices dropping for "outdated" i5s, i7s, i9s.
- More powerful Nvidia + Intel processors.
- AMD focusing in Gamers solely, not AI.

Until AMD finds out they have no competition in the forgotten gamers market. They have been pricing their GPUs close to their Nvidia equivalents lately.

Intel’s original GPU-related efforts were never particularly good, and even if they invested more time and money into them, they’d still have to start from scratch with the advent of raytracing and AI which prefers completely different cores. Intel is struggling not because of their GPU’s, which are actually pretty good for the budget segment and developing at a great rate, but because of their CPU’s, the segment they were known for that they’re failing to make meaningful developments in. This, coupled with the absolute disaster of 13th/14th Gen ring degradation issue is tanking the company, and it doesn’t help that Intel was pretending the problem doesn’t exist for years. There’s a reason why they’re going external for Nova Lake even though it’s a refresh - their process is, ultimately, flawed. Diversification at this juncture is the smart move.

Even if I deliberately avoid it like the plague, last I was made aware, AMD CPUs were still ahead of Intel on the ai tops thing. Even if Radeon is behind on machine learning stuff.

So Nvidia is trying to control Intel... Not good for consumers, especially for the GPU market.

My guess is that Nvidia will force Intel to drop their GPU business, and we can say goodbye to the 3rd more affordable option.

In the long run i see Nvidia trying to control the x86 market. Remember they tried to buy ARM from Softbank Group.

AMD and Nvidia now will have total market control and no excuse to drop prices
