Anything before the { or [ is bad. You file has to start with either { or [ or space or CR or LF

When in doubt look at the file in hex

I use notpad++ too, it wasn't the app's fault, if you create a new file and copy and past the lines over it will work.
PS: I use windows 10. Maybe some OS create files with those bytes. It does looks like after those bytes has been put there editing the file don't remove them.

The Master code restore off works when you unchecked the cheat that not using press button..so it will make the cheat turn off..you can always turn on the master code or just check the master code after you unchecked the cheat code

You can copy and paste these codes into ranma99vn's cheat without any conflict. For the "max items" cheat, you must already have at least one item in your inventory for it to increase to 99. There's a x20 loop. That means when you use the cheat, 20 items in your inventory will be set to 99. This can be useful if you need several items to hand over for a mission but only have one.

and yes, this is based on @ranma99vn hp code.

The sub function there:
24C5F08 : SUB W8, W8, W21"

can be altered into a "reduction" (aka damage /2):
24C5F08 : SUB W8, W8, W21,ASR#1

so "if" the damage is say 3, then asr will do 3/2 => 1.5 and will drop any decimal, so its 1. 4 is reduced to 2, etc....

or it can increase for those who find the game "too easy" (damage x2)
