I have already subscribed my wii for info service with the unpatched disc and then run competition patcher. It was a week ago when I did it. Now I want to let it in Standby but I dont want to cook it. I already let it one hour but it didn't work. The forecast channel needs 25 min, the news channel 10 min and the everybody votes channel 35 min. I dont want to turn it on longer because it would melt my Wiis GPU. My Wii is the one after 2008. Black wii's (post 2008) should run cool. It should not be a problem to just let it crunch for a while.
But it still gets hot, and it is behind the tv (I am not using the tv while standby is on). How long should I turn it on?

I run a HomeLab with 4 retired School PCs as a FIle server cluster, and I just put a s**t ton of fans to cool off the computers. Try using like an older fan that you are not using and point it at the Wii.

ok but standby didn'T work even after letting it 7 hours. Is there a way to keep the fan from the wii on while the wii is on standby?

if it's getting too warm then you should probably get comfortable with taking it apart and replacing the thermal paste/clean the fan out, wiis are so low power you can almost run them passively without a fan at all
keeping any active electronic device in an enclosed space is also generally a bad idea, maybe put it somewhere a little bit more open

That's weird. I sometimes play my Wii non-stop (literally) from 5am to like 8pm and it's never gotten hot.

If you're experiencing hot temperatures, I'd first try to disassemble the Console and see where it gets hot. It depends on how hot you're talking about but might indicate faulty caps in your board.
Again, it's weird your Wii gets hot because mine doesn't (never has!) and been using it regularly since 2008.

It is normal, that wiis get hot in Standby. Mine doesn't get hot when it is on or off. Wiis before 2008 get very hot. Wiis after 2008, like my Wii dont get that heat, but I am still afraid, that the GPU might get fried.
