Should raw milk be legal?

I don't know where you all live but I get raw cow's milk legally all the time.

I had raw milk a few times, it tastes way better than pasteurized milk. Raw milk tastes a lot more "creamy". I personally cannot stand the taste of raw/pasteurized milk though, lol. I do love chocolate milk though.
I don't know how farms operate where you live but back when I drank raw milk on a regular basis the more prominent brands sold milk from Jersey cows, a breed which produces milk with a higher fat content. My favourite cafe in the country uses pasturised Jersey milk. It makes their coffee so much nicer. It's been a while since I last drank raw milk but the better flavour is more likely to be due to the increased fat content rather than the milk being raw.

Sure, its part of natural selection. Play stupid games and wind stupid prizes.

Sadly a lot of children will suffer the consequences of their stupid parents.
Realistically, the overlap between raw milk drinkers and parents who won't vaccinate their children because of a (non-existent) risk or autism is basically 100%, so the kids are doomed regardless.

I remember I bought some fancy milk that was thick and I tried it, but drained it away.

If people want it... Sell it at a Farmer's Markets folks there spend more money than it's really worth it.

Oh, I used to live near a bunch of farms, and I had raw milk a few times. I don't really like the taste of white milk(raw or otherwise), unless it's chocolate.

Oh my gosh! NEARLY 20 people, and 7 PEOPLE FROM THE SAME FARM, had to be hospitalized?! Wow, we really need to ban raw milk!

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, from 1998 to 2018, there were 202 foodborne illness outbreaks linked to raw milk. These outbreaks sickened nearly 2,700 people and hospitalized more than 220.
WOW! 220 people in 20 years were hospitalized by this poison evil milk! We do indeed need to ban it!

Can I ask why you left out the sentence directly after that quote?

Plus, it's not like this is super contagious thing. Infections from raw milk are mainly going to affect those who drink raw milk, which is not very many people. The absolute numbers are small but that says nothing about the relative risk - a discrepancy that is obvious, or it'd be an insane coincidence that seven people from the same farm all got it.

You know, barely anyone dies from eating lead. Very low numbers. Is this proof that lead is great and should be sold at farmers markets, or is it actually pretty bad and not many die because, uh, most people don't eat lead.

... so every day cows are milked for illegal produce?
Reading comprehension is hard I know. It's almost like we sterilize and make the milk safe to drink, I know. CRAZY.

That's great, free salmonella with a side of milk ! Where do I sign up ?!

Personally, I like to keep the power in the hands of the consumer whenever possible. I think it should be legal to sell but with the compromise of a mandatory and clearly visible warning label.

I'm not sure that would work with the timing. Its not like raw milk can last a lot - this is why we invented how to pasteurise

It's legal here, well, it is legal in most of EU countries.
If people want it, they can buy it. I used to drink it sometimes as a kid when I used to hang out in the family farm of one of my friends. As someone who loves milk, It definitely wasn't my favourite.

Edit: So, I rechecked again since I was curious and technically, it is illegal to be sold to the public under normal circumstances, but it's it can be distributed as long as it is freshly ordained. In some EU countries seems like it can even be sold in vending machines and malls.

Should it be legal? Of course, it's just a natural substance that we've been consuming for a long time.
It's like asking if raw eggs should be legal or not :D

Don't package up raw milk and ship it 500 miles and keep it in a refrigerated shelf for 2 weeks - that's a bad idea.
But also don't make it illegal to exist lol

Making it illegal only encourages the stupidest among us to drink it out of spite. I do think there needs to be better education around raw milk. People have lived in so much luxury that they’ve forgotten why we live in luxury, which causes them to do stupid shit like drinking raw milk. It’s the same thought process that’s contributing to stupidity like being against vaccines

We did the same for plenty of drugs and they are illegal. Same thing for the weed plant, which is crazy as that plant has helped humanity for millennia
Sure, cannabis has only been illegal for about 100 years (in the USA), miniscule in the grand scheme of things
