As confirmed by "Does it Play?" on X. Super Mario Party Jamboree physical cart contains FW update 20.1.0, unlocking day 1 update, micro sd support, and backwards compatibility completely offline.

So people with a boxed switch 2 on stock fw have now an option to apply the day 1 update offline if they wanted or if the need arised.

This, along with FW update 20.1.0 adding full FAT32 microsd express support will make the switch 2 completely unlocked and usable on lowest FW possible, by offline methods

?? SD support was added in fw 20.1.0.... and FAT32 formatted micro sd express cards can be fully used, no further updates required.
It was? Wasn't it 20.1.1?

I'm having second thoughts about keeping my Switch 2 as I never use it these days. :/

You still had to connect to Nintendo servers for a small update to use the sd card. The sd card update was a separate update from the day 1 update. You needed the day 1 update to get the sd card update. But the day 1 update alone was not enough.

Haha sweet, Thanks for the info.
Glad i kept my second switch 2 in its virgin state.

The posts only mention firmware update and backward compatilbility support, they don't say anything about SD card support.

Pretty sure it was confirmed that it does not "enable" sd cards. The thing that got enabled was exFAT and that required a connection to Nintendo so that they know how many exFAT licenses they have to pay for.

i think yes, bacause NINTENDO wrote "
  • Updating to version 20.1.0 is required to use a microSD Express card."

Super Mario Party Jamboree cartridge has offline updates to 20.1.0.

every new vector vulnerability is for BIG movements. :(

A lot of folks are making 20.1.1 (or 20.1.0) to be the "golden" firmware, but we'll have to see and it's still too early. NS2 doesn't even have a decent amount of (exclusive) games yet.

It sold well, though it's kind of feeling like Wii U "2" to me. I hope Nintendo changes its course.

"adding full FAT32 microsd express"
uhh, this is wrong info
the update to use microSD Express is only a license, they can't put it inside game cart, it must be registered for micro sd association because it's not free.

On the Nintendo website it says 20.1.1 is required to use an mSD so I don't get why this is such a big deal to be celebrating. You need an mSD otherwise you're stuck with a tiny storage.

No, it was added in 20.1.0, which is the day 1 update. 20.1.1 and 20.1.0 are basically the same, probably just some "stability" added in 20.1.1

No, thats not true. Thats to get the exfat license. you dont need any additional license nor update to use the sd card formatted in FAT32.

yes, you only need FW 20.1.0 if you use the sd card formatted in FAT32

micro sd support was added in fw 20.1.0. You can use your sd card if formatted in FAT32. To use exfat you need an additional license which requies an update

Thats false. That only applies to exfat. You can perfectly use micro sd express cards if they are formatted in fat32 without any license or updates needed once you have at least fw 20.1.0

Nobody is saying that. But FW 20.1.0 is the lowest usable and completely unlocked FW you can get in sw2, and its nice to now have an offline pathway to this FW. Also its the first switch 2 game cart to have a different FW other than 19.1.0 which can be found in both Mario Kart World and DK Bananza
