New Resident Evil inspired animated fanfilm "Golgotha: A Biohazard Story" releases its first episode

The people in charge of the "Residence of Evil" YouTube channel have shared an exclusive and really impressive fanmade film, completely made from scratch and all by the hands of one sole person, Daniel Berthold.

"Golgotha: A Biohazard Story - Episode 1" is the first entry of 7 planned animated episodes entirely made in Unreal Engine 5 during the span of a year, and it aims to retell the story from the perspective of the special squad sent to retrieve the sample of the G-Virus, with the G standing for "Golgotha", the official name for the G-Virus in game lore. The episode starts with a brief glimpse of the aftermath, with piles of squad members dead on the ground, marks of claws on the walls, and the sewer rats having a picnic with the dropped samples of the T-Virus. Then, we're dropped 2 hours earlier, with the squad preparing to start their mission within the Umbrella Headquarters inside Raccoon City.

The creator of this animated fan film, Daniel Berthold, did everything from scratch in Unreal Engine 5 by himself, be it custom models, textures, motion capture using XSense, and animation, made during Daniel's free time throughout a year of development, all of this without a budget.

In order to continue forward with the rest of the episodes in a timely manner, Daniel Berthold is looking for volunteers that could help speed out the process, 3D modelers, texture artists, character and environment designers. Be mindful that this will be a volunteer project without a payment, but people interested in helping out to bring the rest of the episodes to life, can contact Daniel directly through his project email at:

Additionally, Daniel uploads behind the scene and progress posts on his personal Instagram account, for those that want a more detailed look at how the animated fanfilm was created, and how upcoming episodes are coming along.

The Residence of Evil channel has been making a name for themselves with all these projects. Hiring the actors of the original PSOne games for playthroughs and fan films, talk about dedication to a franchise.
