"Resident Evil: Survival Unit" new game for mobile has been unveiled

Official Capcom and Resident Evil social media accounts have been teasing a new Resident Evil project titled "Resident Evil: Survival Unit" exclusively for mobile devices for several days, and today, the official unveiling of the project is now live.

"Resident Evil: Survival Unit" is a brand new strategy game for mobile devices in the Resident Evil franchise, which follows a new protagonist waking up in a hospital, after being the test subject of Umbrella's shady experiments during the Raccoon City incident alongside in a "parallel world", with many of the now classic and beloved characters set within that timeframe in the franchise, like Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, Jill Valentine, Carlos Oliveira, Robert Kendo, Marvin Branagh, and even brand new RE Engine renditions of Alyssa Ashcroft and Barry Burton, with even more characters from spinoffs and ones that didn't survive, like Becca Woolettand and Katherine Warren (the mayor's daughter) from RE2.

The game will feature key aspects of strategy games, like leveling up characters and their stats, special skills, treats and upgrades, with each character bringing unique abilities to the table, different skins, a variety of locations from Raccoon City and the Resident Evil universe, multiple weapons to aid the characters in their journey, and the developers teased a brand new creature called "Mortem".

Resident Evil: Survival Unit is set to go live at the end of 2025, with pre-registrations now being available in the official website for those that desire to take a look at the game, but right now the pre-registration is locked to people above 15 years old and within the United States.

Looked at the gameplay, at first I thought that it wasn't so bad ... looked like an old RE game with tank controls

Then the character goes outside, meets Claire, and they have some auto battle shit with gatlings and summoning barriers or whatever.

"Who tf is going to play that ?" is what I tell myself whenever Capcom announces one of those dumb spinoff games, I can't think of any other franchise that loves doing that so much, how many closures do they need to understand ?

So basically its The Walking Dead No Mans Land, which lacked updates and meant playing the same missions over and over while they added more ways to get you to spend money

This game is going to have to be something really special to even survive launch day.

Is the whole mobile gaming ecospace even worth such a title? For me... I hardly would ever game on my phone.
But if I where to it would be something like Bejeweled, Candy Crush, Super Mario Run, Cut The Rope, or something like Clash of Clans. Personally I dont get major titles on mobile ... but hey that might be me...

Capcom thanks for SF6 on Switch2 now get me a NS2 RE ;)

If the "multiplayer side game" (ala Resistance) in their remakes is anything to go by, I'm not touching this with a barge pole either. Resistance felt more like a corporate mandate to find monetization/live service options for RE games than a genuine effort to make an RE side game.
