Hello everyone,

I traded Pokémon (game is Sword and Shield) with another player. I am using a Switch 2 and the other player uses a Switch 1 on old firmware that is banned. My Shield is a legitimate copy. His Shield is a pirated one running on MIG.

Didn't think too much about it when we did it since we traded Pokémon plenty of times when I still used a Switch 1 as well, but now 2 hours later I realized that the Switch 2 might have something to recognize certificates of blacklisted carts through local connections. Does it, does it not? Does anyone know? Has anyone tested local play between Switch 2 and banned Switch 1 that uses a pirated copy?

Some insight would be appreciated

Don't worry. Legal game is the same as illegal. The difference is legality. Surprise trade is full of generated (hacked) Pokémon. It is more dangerous for those who use the MIG.

Well yeah, the MIG user is already banned. The trade happened through local communication. I am not worried about hacked Pokémon, neither of us have any. I was just wondering if other people did this before.

Either way, seems like I can confirm that MIG Switch players can trade locally (emphasis on locally - the other dude was banned) with clean Switch 2 units and the Switch 2 won't be affected.

Thanks for responses everyone

I traded locally between my banned v1 cfw switch to my switch2, no problem at all. Their problem is with people using illegal pkmn in online competition - but a lot of them are legal PKHEX generated pkmn anyway. Also, it's very unlikely they have the means to (or even interest in) tracing the origin of every pkmn people use in their games.

This is the kind of reply I was waiting for. Thanks! Looks like Switch 2 doesn't care about player 2's ban status similarly to Switch 1's.
