anyone knows what matrix scaler open agb firm uses? its supposedy uses the same format as twpatch (and luma) and probably uses one of the filters from here

This is normal, unfortunately. iirc, there's no code space left to re-apply the effect when opening the lid.Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I recently installed the redshift patch with TWPatch and it all seemed to work. I am very pleased with the effect! However I noticed that when I close the lid of my 3ds and reopen it the redshift effect goes away. Is this normal behaviour? Did I do something wrong?
i would seriously pay someone to find a way to reapply the effect when opening the lid. as someone with sensitive eyes it would make playing ds games on real hardware a whole lot more appealing to me
It's already done years ago, except I've never released it, because touch doesn't work in DS mode, and there is no upscaling either.
touch not working is a big downside but no upscaling doesn't matter much to me i think... i really really hope at some point those issues can be worked around and have the effect persist after opening/closing. you would be a hero
Hey Sono,Well... I found it, read it, and have some bad news...
I don't know yet how to inject touch... if it's even possible
Otherwise, I see that the format is extremely simple, I can make it compress really well.
I'll do some tests in BizHawk myself too. Good thing I made self-running TAS scripts, so that makes my job a lot easier![]()
Hey Sono,
This is a longshot, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on the possibility of streaming inputs over WIFI, similar to InputRedirection-Qt for 3DS titles?
Since NDS games have the capacity to connect to WIFI built in, might it be possible to hijack that somehow?
In my mind, probably not possible with the limited space available, and it's probably a more complex affair than having all the inputs streamed locally from the device. Either way, let me knowThanks
Hey Sono, out of curiosity, has there been work done to apply the gamma correction that open_agb_firm applies to correct for the washed out colors of DS games? I could've sworn I saw some old posts from you mentioning that there were other approaches available, but not exactly the method that open_agb_firm uses.
Even if we had space, it's not really possible, since we don't want to / can't mess with hardware that's also accessible DS-side.
It is highly likely possible in GBA mode, but we still don't have stable WiFi in baremetal mode...
And yeah, TWPatch can't do that, not enough space *at all*. It has to be strictly a separate GBA mode software, not Nintendo's patched hot garbage.
There has been research, but it's highly unlikely to come anytime soon to TWPatch. Not because it's not possible (I already have patches to hijack kernel mode and all that), but because of my health, I don't have enough energy to do it in a timely manner.
As for simpler color correction, it's been worked on since the last build I've posted (in fact, it's one of the many secret features present in the last few TWPatch builds), but it's extremely unstable, and keeps crashing a lot. It does work with some pre-made lookup tables, but it doesn't look as good as the full color correction that open_agb_firm does.
Sorry for asking, but how is your health going? I hope you get better.
i'm curious on what exactly you meant here and if there's been any progress or updates on this. who would it come from if not from you? i hope you get better as well... i didn't realize you were in poor healthIt will come soon, but not from me.

Yeah, I meant health.
I already have things working for a long time, but do not feel like fixing minor annoyances and releasing it. I'm sorry, everyone.
it'd be nice if someone could take over and continue work on it, then. it doesn't actually sound like it's coming soon at all, contrary to what you saidYeah, I meant health.
