im looking to buy a used sega DC so i can toss in a GDEMU gonna gift it to my bestie for his birthday but im limited to around 100$ including shipping and ebay seems too expensive any ideas?

Maybe check out any local stores or somewhere else like Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, etc?

There's also a site called fatfingers.com which might be able to find misspelled listings, although I haven't used it myself.

Alternatively look for 'spare/repair' where the specific fault is the GDMU or maybe the power supply and get a replacement which is better for the GDMU (can't recall the name of it), although this would be a bit riskier.

Also, remember you may want to do other mods to the system due to issues GDEMU may cause I.e. heat.

If you're in the USA, good luck.

AliExpress was the only source for GDEMUs, so the prices of them are (and have) skyrocketed to a few years ago when they were still $100/$120 for the bad quality v5.15 clones.

Besides that, is $100 your entire budget? Or for just the console itself?

@master801 just the console already have a GDEMU clone waiting to be tossed in

@tech3475 my DC has a 3d printed tray that directs airt over the psu i also put small copper heatsinks on the gdemu chips to help as well i shall do the same wioth my friends DC

I'd go the auction route. I've picked up Japanese Dreamcasts for around $40 finding unbid on listings closing soon on Buyee.jp. If you're modding it immediately for GDEMU, it's might be a bit of a hassle trying to find Dreamcast revisions that will safely work with it. VA1 is the revision you want for the right voltage, but the 2 I've purchased have been VA0 which was fine for a MODE.

Also when's your deadline?

USA Dreamcasts are typically more expensive than Japanese ones (if that matters to you at all), but the ones from Japan will cost you a lot in shipping and most of the time, are badly yellowed from either sun damage or cigarette smoke.

Let me know if you end up not finding one.

@master801 id prefer an ntsc usa dreamcast if possible cant seem to find one thats listed as working my budget is 120 including shipping
It's gonna be pretty difficult to find one of those on Fleabay or the like, without major defects outside of "disc drive doesn't read" and the huge markup.
