Should I rush to get a launch model for hacking reasons or not?

I'll usually try searching facebook marketplace for consoles, because there is a ton of people who just don't know what they have, or they just want to get rid of something their kid doesn't use anymore.
Ya I can easily find a V2 switch complete for $160

btw, I like cat.

It's not crazy when you know what will happen.

Switch 2 will get a software exploit way before hardware, if not i'll eat one.

Plus 4 for:

1) Myself
2) Saving for the exploit
3) Spare
4) Family member most likely.
How come Switch 1 v2, OLED, or Lite have still today not got a software exploit, but yet you think Switch 2 will. :rofl2:

It's just guesses so buy it if you want and keep it offline.

I've already pre ordered mine and bought a case (came free with screen protector) and a rear cover for the Switch 2.

I'm seriously considering offering my daughter a new Switch2 in trade for her launch original Switch, which is fully updated but has never been futzed with. She gets the new thing, I get the old hackable thing. Win win.

I certainly wouldn't let the timing of when I can purchase a new game console affect plans for something like a trip to Japan.

Even SciresM has posted here how unlikely an exploit is yet people are still convinced it's worth buying 4 consoles at launch lol

And they say piracy is bad for sales...
Some are likely buying to resell it, but if there's plenty of stock scalpers will get burned and good thing they get. It happened with the PS5 Slim/Pro Disc Drives.

To look at this from a different perspective, we're getting Switch 2 starting on FW 1.0 (or something close to that) that has yet to be poked at. Switch v2, Lite and OLED didn't start on FW 1.0. They started on later FW versions that already took care of the known exploitable holes alongside the major flaw of the Switch system. This is not say that Switch 2 will automatically have a software exploit, but it doesn't necessarily mean it won't either. To me, it's still up in the air. Switch 2 isn't getting a full-on replica of Switch 1's FW. It's getting a number of new things added that have yet to have had a fine-toothed comb scrapped against it.

True but the firmware had absolutely nothing to do with the exploit, it was the RCM screw up from Nvidia. A firmware update did not stop the exploit, it was a hardware change. No way Nvidia messed up again. I'm sure big N has even paid some smart people to try to hack it before even starting final production. I bet even the normal modchip connection spots on the motherboard are hidden now.

That was through Fusee Gelee, the big exploit. But there were various other exploits like Jamais Vu and PegaSwitch that all got patched through FW updates.

IMO, a reason why there were no more software exploits for Switch is because there just wasn't as much emphasis to do so when they already got major entry into the system using launch units, and then worked from the inside out to get hardmods set up for every version.

4? Thats crazy. That means if you bought the ones without Mario Kart World, you would've spent 1800 dollars, and thats not even including tax.

I guess we'll see how that turns out. It'll either backfire or actually be worth it.

We just simply never know.
You know, 2k once every or month isn't a big deal for adults who do adulting. Naturally, taking into account not having crotch spawn to waste money on.

Good example was PSP - look how many game save and such exploits there were as they were being patched out solely via FW. Same with 3DS if I'm not mistaken.

No. I wouldn't bother rush buying a launch model if there's not going to be any modchips or exploits yet. Same happened with the PS5 and it took quite a while to see progress.
True, but getting a PS5 with a low firmware was a pain in the butt. I was actually lucky I just randomly bought a used PS5 (£270 with a controller) and the console was on 7.00.

Most of the time sellers update thinking that's a good idea.

Only reason to "rush" for one as in Pre order, is so that you don't have to deal with scalpers when retail sell em all.
Just make sure you have your Nintendo account ready for validation. My local gamestop told me that it will be required in order to purchase the console. I'm not even expecting it to be hacked within the 1st 2 years. So im going to pre order a 2nd switch 2 from Best Buy- 1 console per person in each retail.
