:arrow:Download Nintendo Today, that new goofy app from yesterdays direct

The thing is, I know I'm going to watch it. The Mario Movie was decent (not amazing, but decent), so there's a chance this will be fairly accurate to the source material.

I envision a Zelda that acts like she did in the cartoon (when Bob and Eve Forward were doing the writing).

I think it's easier to make a good animated film based on video games - live action zelda seems rife with disaster

Mario is a less serious character, I have doubts they will do Link, Zelda, Ganon etc justice

super excited for the easter eggs tho - I'm sure it won't be based on majora but I bet we see a majora's mask tucked away somewhere

It would show significant restraint, if they didn't show the mask. At the very least, the Happy Mask Salesman will be in the background with his backpack.

This also presents a huge problem going forward, since every Zelda is based on a different era of Hyrule's history. So, like Bond, we'll have to switch out everyone, but we'll be doing it every movie.

The first movie is likely going to follow a standard formula. Reluctant hero doesn't want to take up the mantle, but circumstances force his hand. Along the way, he feuds with his companion (A fairy or Zelda) until he learns the value of responsibility and teamwork. It'll make subsequent movies harder to write, since they can't use the origin/team up arc any longer. (I suppose they could, since it's a new Link.)

would be cool to see an origin story/explainer for dark link at some point

also something like link's awakening with the dream aspect would be pretty cool

It's two years away but they're committing to a release date? Bit silly, innit? What if they pull a Sonic and have to redo half the CGI midway? :tpi: "A delayed movie is eventually good but a rushed movie is bad forever" :tpi:
Funny thing is that Sonic Movie 4 is gonna be released a week before the Zelda Movie :tpi:
with it being so close to April 1 I had to double check and google this news
That's fine . . . . don't trust me . . . . . .

I'd like to see a Link's Awakening adaptation that can surpass the Game Boy original. Everyone needs a live action depiction of Link running around collecting golden leaves.

For Dark Link, I'm not sure what you'd want there. It'll likely be explained as a shadow that pops out of the ground, a reflection that smashes through a mirror, or a transparent shapeshifter. Otherwise, you'd need a standalone movie going through the whole existential thing. Like, the Sandman coming to life scene from Spider-Man 3 mixed with the Mewtwo sequence from the first Pokémon movie.

I'd like it to be an original story and not based on any existing Zelda game. Since most Zelda games are set in different times, are made in different styles, with different characters (don't start) and plot specifics, there is no reason the movie couldn't/shouldn't be the same, and on the other hand, no matter what you do and how hard you try, if you try/attempt/DARE to adapt an existing game, fans will have a fucking meltdown over how "wrong" or "incorrect" the movie is. So why even try? New story, new age of Hyrule, new most things, and tell anyone who complains that if they don't shut up, they'll make it take place on modern day Earth. Legend of Zelda: A Link To New York.

I would love a Majora's mask adaptation. All Zelda stories are pretty simplistic, but the bones of majora and the world of termina have enough of starting point where I feel you could build something really meaningful. Exploring themes of loss, hopelessness, nihilism. How do normal people respond when everything they know is crumbling around them.

That will never happen though lmao

I bet it's going to be Link's Awakening themed and will finally show us what Link is doing in the real world while he's saving Koholint and the Windfish.

Or maybe it'll be Wind Waker themed and show us 3 hours of sailing over an empty ocean.
