Hey guys, sorry if this is not allowed but I have no other option. I started to mod my wii u about a week ago, everything is fine, managed to inject Wii and Gamecube games. Wii games are working fine, my problem are with GC games, whenever I try to boot a GC game I get the splash screen with an image of the game and release date and then I get a black screen with a green bar at the bottom, sometimes its blue then turn back to green, it stays that way for about 6 or 7 minutes then the game start. I followed FunkyScott47's video on youtube, im using an SD card for my homebrews and a flash drive for my games. I tried to uninstall everything then reinstall everything but it does the same thing.

Hello. I recently installed custom firmware (Aroma) on my Wii U and installed a GameCube game file created with UWUVCI, but when I launched it, I experienced the same problem.
However, after doing a few things, I was able to successfully inject the GC Game, so I thought I'd write down how to do it here for anyone else who is having the same problem.

Step1. Delete the Nintendont file causing the problem from the SD card.
SD Root: /apps/nintendont
and
SD Root: /nincfg.bin

Step2. Put a new Nintendont File onto the SD card.
https://wiidatabase.de/downloads/usb-und-disk-loader/nintendont/
Download Nintendont from this URL. Then, copy the Nintendont folder from your apps directory to SD Root: /apps/

Step3. Create the Inject Install folder for GC Games.
https://github.com/piratesephiroth/TeconmoonWiiVCInjector/releases
I used TeconmoonWiiVCInjector here instead of UWUVCI.
I haven't yet pinpointed the direct cause of the GC Inject game not starting, but I suspected it might be related to the Injector's Nintendont cfg, so I didn't configure the SD card settings at this point.

Step4. Manual configuration of Nintendont Cfg file.
Once you enter the vWii, launch Nintendont from the HomeBrew Channel. At this point, you will need to launch a game once to save the settings, so put any GC game ISO ROM onto your SD card for Nintendont. The location to put it is SD root: games/Your Game Name [Your Game ID]/game.iso
Turn on Memcard Emulation in the Nintendont settings screen.
Then, please start the game.

Step5. Install GC Games using WUP Installer GX2.
This installs GC Games into the Wii U menu and saves it to a USB drive (HDD or SSD) instead of an SD card. Additionally, you can now use the Wii U GamePad with GC Games.

I've decided to use UWUVCI for Wii Games and TeconmoonWiiVCInjector for GC Games going forward.
I hope these steps will help those who are having trouble successfully injecting their GC game.

This always happens when I play GC titles and it's one of the things that to me indicates that the console hasn't frozen lol. They flicker though. If you get it and it's a static image then yeah something bad just happened.

Just use UWUVCI and go to settings and use the tool it has to set up Nintendont (it downloads the latest version and lets you save a new nincfg.bin) and stick to templates in UWUVCI that are already there, instead of trying to select from a custom base rom. If you don't have your Wii U Common key, you can use Nandumper and other apps to export a otp.bin file, which you read in UWUVCI and then for downloading the templates just google search on some of the terms there, and copy-paste some title IDs and then all is good.

AiluruZzz has a good explanation. You're gonna see these green bars for a few seconds when it boots any GC title, but then everything else ought to work, if you did it correctly. You can find documentation somewhere (I forget where) to see which GC titles work on which base templates. But by rule, just make sure if you have an EU rom, use an EU template when you start to inject it.

I have over 10 custom Gamecube games working on my Wii U right now, directly controllable via Gamepad. It absolutely works, you just need to review your setup.

In case you haven't, take files from your SD and back them up on your PC (all of them), and reformat the card with this software. It makes sure to format the card with the parameters that works with Nintendont.

I’m giving up…

After trying everything, four different Nintendont versions, UWUVCI and TeconMoon’s WiiVC Injector, nothing works. Whenever I launch my GameCube injects, the screen stays black and I have to hard power off the console.

I even followed your steps exactly, @AiluruZzz, and redid everything from scratch with configs generated from Nintendont, but I still get the same issue every time.

I’ll just stick to launching GameCube games from the vWii side without GamePad support, since that works fine.

are they installed to USB, multi-parition USB, internal, or an SD card pretending to be a USB?

did you use UWUVCI to install latest nintendont and config it to your sd card?

step 1 of troubleshooting: move them to internal if they aren't there, try again, report back with the other details.

dont dig into these until youve addressed the above:

-If you're using a multi-parition USB, a couple versions of the isfshax plugin just broke those VCs. The latest version of the usbpart plugin fixes it. this is a 1-file update on your sd card and then you're good
-if you're using internal and it's not working, you've got problems I don't understand and they're likely pre-install
-if you're using a dedicated USB with 1 partition, and its not working, you've got problems I dont understand and they're likely pre-install
-if you're using the SD plugin to pretend to have a USB but its actually a partition on the SD card, then the only issue is you didn't read the part of the guide where it says they won't work with that (other than if moved to internal)

Hopefully it's a simple fix for ya!

edit: yeah that's weird then. If you're installing to NAND and it won't launch, somethings really wrong (I'd think as part of the WUP building process, cause nintendont doesnt even need cIOS running.) If your isos were scrubbed try the unscrubbed I guess and good luck.

I tried both, installing the injects to NAND and to USB, and it doesn’t change anything.

I also tried to use UWUVCI to install and configure Nintendont on the SD card. As I mentioned, I’ve tested more than 4 different Nintendont versions.

I didn’t mention it earlier, but I’ve spent many hours trying different things before saying I’m giving up. Still, thanks for the reply.
