I bought a second hand 3ds and there was a swelling feeling underneath. I opened it up, the battery seems normal but there is a swelling mark on the case (Second photo). I don't know if the battery has been changed before. Battery last around 4 - 4.30 with 3D off.

So, what exactly is the question..?

It's probably not supposed to swell and it's probably not going to get better, if that's what you're wondering.
What I'm wondering is, does the battery look swollen in the photos? When I saw a slight swelling on case, I thought, is the battery swelling and putting pressure on the case? But when I opened the case, it didn't seem like there was any swelling in the battery. Do you think the battery looks swollen?

the "professional" name for swollen batteries is puffy pillow syndrome :)
how does the batetry look if you look at it from the slim side ?
swelling should be easily recognized that way

even if swollen, some batteries still work

I think it looks normal, not any swelling I guess. By the way, what do you think about the swelling in the case in the second photo? Do you think the swelling in the case is normal or could the old battery be swollen?

They might have replaced a swollen battery with a new one.

By the way, is the mark on the shell a uniform shape, or is it irregular? Maybe it could just be from manufacturing, if it's uniform.

I watched some 3ds battery replacement videos and I think all the covers have a mark like this. I guess I'm a little too concerned, everything seems normal.
