I'm close to finishing my Monster Hunter Stories 2 playthrough and I'm currently in the post-game. I noticed that despite already having unlocked star 9 permit quests, I only received 6 DLC subquests (from the free DLC updates). Those quests are:
- Dealin' for Dunkers
- Bag Me Some Bugs
- Go Nuts for Donuts
- Ice Phantom (Oroshi Kirin quest)
- Whetting My Appetite
- Throw Me a Bone

The first three DLC quests showed up on the quest board during the course of the story while the latter three showed up after I finished the main story and unlocked star 8 permit quests.

Now here's the problem. From what I understand, there should be more DLC quests that should have showed up after reaching the post-game:
- Find: Very purrecious...
- Find: Purrecious...
- Tantalizing Toe Beans
- Pluck Me Some Shrooms
- A Meaty Proposition
- A Corny Request
- Psychoblaze Black Knight (Hellblade Glavenus)
- Lightning Revolt (Boltreaver Astaloth)
- Heavenly Eye (Soulseer Mizutsune)
- Unconquerable Mountain (Elderfrost Gammoth)
- King Among Kings (Dreadking Rathalos)
- Sky-Rending Roar (Molten Tigrex)
- Full Golden Moon (Gold Rathian)
- Shining Silver Sun (Silver Rathalos)

None of these quests showed up on the quest board, though, while all that I got left to do in the game are the subquests to hunt down Kushala Daora, Velkhana, Bloodbath Diablos and Thunderlord Zinogre, and finish the Elder Lair.

Does anyone know how I can get these quests to show up? I tried to search for an answer online, but to no avail. All I could find is that some people claim that they have similar issues with Dreadking Rathalos and possibly Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos, too, and that it might be some bug of sorts.

I'm playing on version 1.5.3, by the way.

On a side note, I have tried to reinstall updates 1.5.2 and then 1.5.3 again. Unfortunately doesn't make a difference.

Alright, so after some investigation and assistance from a friendly fellow over at Reddit I noticed something. With the exception of the Palamute update, all title updates are time-gated. Or rather, they spread their content out over two dates. Take update #5 for example.

The parts in green were unlocked for me simply by installing the nsp file for update 1.5.0+. Everything in red did not unlock. Notice how all green entries belong to October 21 and the red entries to october 28. Although the Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian Monstie itself don't show up in quests or dens, I can use them through a save editor, so the data is certainly there.

Additional Monsters

[October 28]

This pattern also applies to the other updates. That explains why I only see a subset of the quests. It doesn't solve the problem, but it does demystifies things a little bit.

The person who tried to help me updated his game to 1.5.3 on OFW and stated the following:
What was strange on my end was that after the initial update & playing a bit, the game wanted me to update yet again after i saved or recieved any kind of reward, but after that one it did not show my anything new.

I tried installing update 1.5.3 twice, but that isn't doing the trick. These updates are two-pronged with the first part of the update being available immediately and the second part being time-gated to become available a week later. Figuring out how to unlock that time-gated part is the key here and I sincerely hope it can be done without requiring Nintendo and Capcom's servers. It would be bad for preservation if it does.

i think you need to download a bscat save to unlock some of the quests
I see. I hadn't thought of bscat/bcat files and was kinda getting ready to start save editing.

I noticed that when I load someone else's save files with all DLC unlocked, it shows up on my Switch as well. And by that I mean just the save slot. Not the system save file, which didn't make a different at all when I tried that.

Now I need to figure out where I can find bcat files...

Can you show me a more specific way?

How do you mean? If you're asking for a solution, I don't have one yet. I didn't got much time lately to work on this either.
Can you tell me how to edit the save file to get gold rathian, I downloaded it and it seems it doesn't apply to gold rathian, thank you

I have been having issues of finding the fated four and the elder's den co-op quests, and a very long search brought me here, there doesnt seem to be any other person actually trying to investigate all of this

like I said I am missing those two quests and could be missing more that I dont realize, I have done all the subquests required to actually see them, and since you mentioned updating to 1.5.3, I did that too

is there any way of actually getting the quests without connecting to nintendo servers at all? could the quests be dumped into some kind of file that people could add into their games? I have no clue how this works or how hard would it be, but I am quite desperate to actually get my game to a proper 100%, missing those quests doesnt stop me from getting the elders or deviants (but makes it much more annoying), but I would still like to have them, somehow

I have found a semi solution to this;

the missing quests are in your files, getting gold and silver raths is possible just like anything else with save editing, but you dont have to, because using a savefile that has already gotten those DLC quests works! if you have a friend/know someone who has already gotten all DLC quests (with kin lvl 9 if possible) you can use that save to have the quests

well, now you have someone else's save, what's the point right?

there are tools to manually edit that save into a state that's almost the exact same as your old save, yes it would take a long time manually going through each value and monstie, but, it is better than just not having those quests whatsoever, this is all until someone manages to find a way to get the game to show the quests without needing to check for the condition needed to see them

dont forget, you already have the files when you update to 1.5.0+, I have tested all of this on a fully offline switch, and got the quests just using someone else's save

I also confirmed this using a save that someone else kindly provided to me. I intend to use that save to search for the flags to unlock the quests, because I'm just OCD like that about these things. For preservation it's not enough for me to just have someone else's save, but I believe that we should be able to start a new game with all content available without being dependent on an online connection because servers will shut down at some point. However, I didn't got around to this yet because of real life matters and distractions.

I 100% agree with you

I was also not happy about using someone else's save since even 95% similarity means that 5% is not my save, not very fun. Hope when you do manage to get back to experimenting you do find a better fix, it sucks that nintendo secretly locked people without connections out of content, but the fact that it CAN be done offline is promising, maybe in the future a cheat for this could be made for players to just paste in and play without any worries

though on top of all, real life matters are important, so wish you good luck OP! Glad you haven't given up on this yet

Although I am not a fan of Nintendo because of their aggresive antics against preservation, this one is purely on how Capcom handles their DLC (in name only) for Monster Hunter games.

Small update. After trying to find the relevant flags/data with a hex editor, I came up empty. Unfortunately the reference files I received are as good as useless because they're encrypted and I get to see the same strings of numbers way too many times to actually make any sense of it.

I honestly don't know how to proceed here. I've done some hex editing for MH3U and MH4U on the 3DS in the past, but this is feeling like a whole different beast...

Anything update bro? I have same problem

I recently got it working thanks to a BCAT quest unlocker over at the Cheats Hunter discord channel. Some folks over there tackled this problem. If you search on this, you should be able to find an invite link to their server and download the event quest unlocker from there and use JKSV to inject the BCAT file.

hello can u share your savedata with all event quest unlocked please?

That's not going to do you much good. Sharing a save file only has those event quests unlocked for that save. My save is a finished playthrough, meaning you can't just continue your playthrough with the quests unlocked. If you go the Cheats Hunter discord channel, follow their instructions and download their event quest unlocker BCAT file for Monster hunter Stories 2, you can easily unlock all event quests for any of your playthroughs.

does create new savefile removes the event?, there are 3 slots.

It doesn't remove it literally, but the new save file will not have the event quests unlocked (effectively that's a yes to your question as I believe you mean it). It's tied to the individual save itself instead of the game's system data.
