I have got a Wii U Kiosk .wux file and a game.key file and want to open them in CEMU, but I cant figure out how to convert my .key file into text (opening it in a HEX editor doesnt work).
Can you please help me to get the game running, and would it be possible to safely install the file on my WiiU?
Thank you for your answers!

I don't know about CEMU, but those kiosk demos are on Archive in nus format already. Nusspli or WUP installer should install them. No idea if it'll work though.

If it's binary, then you should just copy the hex string from a hex editor, without the spaces. There is your text.

Chill y'all, he's just interested. Why did we homebrew our consoles? Most of us answer curiosity.

I think this is a fascinating question though. A quick Google search shows not much, however the AI has some interesting info, although I can't say for sure it's true. If you can find runnable copies of a kiosk game, diff the files and see if you can spot a difference in the files (for example, a runnable copy contains a new .xml or licence or something.)

I'll look into it real fast and if I find anything of value I'll be back. Sadly Wii U isn't my area of expertise though, so no promises.

Edit: I gtg, I'll be back soon, but so far I've discovered some cool info (specifically about their certs, but idk if that's important yet lol) brb yall!

Demo games??? 10 mins each play?? I'm not seeing the appeal here...
Maybe you don't see it, but preservation is important. Discs are all rotting away.
Some of the demos could even be prerelease versions of the game with differences from the final build. Or they could be undumped.

Preservation of a full final game from the wild is totally understandable but I'll never understand unfinished unreleased prototypes that next to no one ever saw and is either just a restriction on the final product or wasn't deemed worthy to be released as a product.

There is no preservation here.

It immensely weird to me that you've been here for so long and yet don't understand that the preservation of video games goes further than just complete games and prototypes.

Organizations like tcrf and dykg have found hundreds of interesting things from datamining demos and such.

ITT unhelpful people who are blatantly just pirating games and not helping the OP at all.

OP like someone else said you probably need to just copy the hex contents of the game.key into a text file so it's a string of hexadecimal output rather than binary

First and foremost: thank you for all positive answers I have gotten on this threat.
It's great to see that there are other like minded people on this forum who want to preserve these demos.

Sadly, the method with the HEX editor didn't work or I am to stupid to configure my keys.txt file (I have attached a screenshot).

Thank you for your help so far!

Well this is a discussion about a demo version specifically. Who wants to see that in any years time? And I'm willing to guarantee theres nothing interesting buried in it so rather than accuse me of bashing preservation as a whole, keep with the discussion. The OP will do what they wanna do then move on quickly anyway and I don't recall telling them not to.

Welcome to the internet, fun fact.. It's full of opinions you may not like 😂

Why are you on this thread if you don't wanna help?
It wasn't my intention to start a discussion about preservation.
I just wanted to see what was on these demo disks out of curiosity and thought there are some people on here who want to help me.

I didn't either but here we are lol again the internet is full of twists and turns!

I did ask about the appeal and should have made my stance clear... Most info about these kiosks is already out there. Its not very exciting and iirc the demo games were finished articles with a 10 minute time/play restriction attached so my opinion is just as valid as your curiosity however again, I never told you not to bother, I asked of the appeal and it turned into a preservation argument with someone else.

So in not helping, I am inadvertently telling you your wasting your time but it's your time, have at it my man! :yay:

It's obvious to everyone that you're the one in the wrong here.
I don't think he is. Like he said, we been through this Kiosk stuff before, like years ago. And nothing really interesting are on those discs really. I used to have CAT-R unit that can run and rip those discs.

It's obvious to everyone that you're the one in the wrong here. Don't go "wah-wah internet opinions" on me. We gave you several good reasons why this matters and you're just cry-laughing-emoji-ing yourself into a hole.

Incorrect facts are not opinions. Just take the L
Lol, I'm afraid your late to the party and as I said, have at it, have fun and I look forward to seeing the next gigaleak of unearthed information you both reveal!!
