SEGA released a new FAQ regarding their Sega Classics collection, which includes games from SEGA's history, ranging from their Mega Drive / Genesis classics to some Dreamcast classics as well.

However, the news are not uplifting, as SEGA announced in their FAQ that they will be delisting games from their SEGA Classics catalogue from virtual storefronts. Here's the full list of 60+ titles that will be removed from Steam:

Other consoles will also be impacted by this delisting, as Xbox will have around 12 games being delisted, and both PlayStation and Nintendo Switch will have SEGA Genesis Classics completely delisted from their storefronts.

SEGA will be delisting these selected games and bundles on December 6th at 11:59pm PST, making them unavailable for purchase once the deadline arrives. It's worth noting that SEGA did specify that those that have already purchased and own certain titles or bundles from this list will still be able to download and play said titles and those will remain in their libraries.

I still don't understand the reason for delisting games. Do they not want to have a public archive of their games or not? Preservation through official means now officially sucks; I mean I can sorta get what Nintendo is doing with Switch online and such, but still...

Nothing against Shadow One but why have a user submitted news section if we post news there and he or someone else comes along and just posts the same thing? I posted about Xenoblade Chronicles X the other day, then he submits the same thing. This was also posted in user submitted news about Sega delisting titles and now he submits the same story. There's no point in having a user submitted news section if the same stories are just going to be repeated in the main news section.

It's possible that they are working on a new collection with better features and more games, which could explain why they're doing this, as they have done with other games like Sonic Generations.
The reasoning should have been included in the FAQ, but they gave no indication as to why they are delisting them.

I believe that they do something like this because the user who originally submitted the news regarding it doesn't have the same... oomph as how the editorial team does it. Maybe if the arcticle had a lot more eye-catching information before the main point was given for users to add some context, there's a higher chance that it'll be promoted to the front.

I get you here, I also used to submit news before I was staff and felt iffy when I reported it yet minutes later someone else posts it in the news section.
The reasoning here, at least in my case, is that I don't have much spare time to properly check whether or not if a user has submitted the news already, and as soon as I see some worthy news to be posted, I jump right ahead and make the article. I tend to do most of my reporting while on work hours btw, once I'm out I don't usually go online.

I do apologize though if that got some people mad, but that's the reasoning for my case.

Adding to what Shadow said above, user-submitted stuff is also much much more likely to hit the front page if we as staff don't need to spend time basically rewriting the post anyway.

For the last 10 mins, I've actually been trying to find this Genesis bundle on various grey market retailer sites to activate through Steam, but I'm not having much luck...

Games that you “own” are still playable and downloadable though, right? I recently got NiGHTS into Dreams on Steam.

Also, it’s possible that they will re-list them at some point with slight modifications and/or improvements. Why else would they do this?

Yeah those that you already have will still be available for you to download and play later on.
I still have the original Sonic titles that were delisted when Sonic Origins was about to be released, so I still have those available to download and play whenever I like.

That is correct. As long as you purchased the games before getting delisted, it will still be part of your library and you will be free to download as many times as needed. Not sure if those same games will be "re-listed" back on storefronts since that is up to the publisher. The only reason why I see Sega doing this is b/c they'll probably release a new game that bundles all of those titles, e.g., Sonic Origins.

Is that the case on all platforms? I know you're talking about Steam specifically, but...
I own the Genesis Classics on PSN, so I'm just a bit worried, is all

They didn't mention specifics when it comes to the games already being on the user's library, so I'm guessing if you have them in any console you should still be able to redownload them, be it console or Steam.

They want a classic collection that is smacked with Denuvo probably

I hope that they don't put Duenvo in these old games. I don't understand why Sega loves putting Duenvo in their games if it only reduces performance in the PC versions of their games. I remember my brother getting Sonic Origins and every game performed at around 20FPS.

Because their Shareholders demands it most likely. I don't think Sega have removed Denuvo from any game. Not even Metaphor: Refantazio even after their massive blunder with the demo x3

I see. So, are the shareholders to blame for this situation? In fact, I remember hearing something about this being made for the Switch, but I haven't heard about it since.
