Need help bridging Sl1 on a ds lite

i have tried flashing my ds with flashme before and bridging sl1 has never worked i thought i was just doing it wrong but i dont think thats the case.
Now im trying to flash my own custom firmware and i cant get it to bridge.
i even opened the ds up and it still doesnt work.
any help appreciated thanks

It is not that hard to do.
I took a few pictures years ago → See here.

You could go as far as bridging the pads with solder, but it doesn't make much sense if you don't flash regularly or are a developer.

I don’t get it.
I just tried what you said and it doesn’t work like any other tutorial I’ve went through.
The percentage doesn’t go up but I can turn off the ds by bridging vr1

A toothpick with aluminium foil and tape to seal it

It's best to use a DS stylus and cover the tip with aluminium foil so that it can fit and touch the two contacts. A toothpick is too thin and is not thick enough to reach.

There was no stylus with my ds lite and I don’t have one but I use a Chromebook stylus it seems to work pretty well
