Yeah that's been a slow burn from the Republicans for as long as I can remember, making the entire country stupid so you can lie to them to get elected isn't a good strategy. A bunch of the recent stuff like the stupid voucher programs is extremely obvious, they don't feel like they have to hide it anymore it would seem.

I always thought it was strange for Trump to go after John Deer. That's such an American farming company that you see those machines everywhere. To say that he wanted to put a 200% tariff on their machines coming in from Mexico would be a direct attack on farmers.

I couldn't imagine it happening either. But for him to even suggest it is idiotic. A leader isn't supposed to be someone who comes up with moronic ideas, and the rest of the country has to reel him in. They need to have reasonable ideas from the start. I'm guessing we're both not in agriculture, so we can afford to not care if it happens or not. But those farmers can't afford to not take him seriously.

of course many people in the US cannot vote due to age, felony status, mental illness etc

He got 46.8% of votes cast, but if you count a trump supporter simply as someone who voted for him - that's a smaller chunk of the population (see above)
